$CO_2$ 레이저를 이용한 GTD111DS 초합금 용접부의 미세조직과 기계적 성질 (Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of GTD 111DS Welds by $CO_2$ Laser Welding)

  • 니켈기지의 석출강화 초내열합금은 가스터빈의 고온부 부품 제조에 널리 사용되고 있다. 장시간 동안 부품의 강성 유지와 구조적 안정성을 확보하기 위해서는 니켈기지의 합금에 감마프라임 생성을 위한 원소를 첨가하는데 이에 따른 용접성의 저하 때문에 보통 초합금의 용접은 고온에서 수행하게 된다. 그러나 레이저용접의 경우는 용접변수 및 입열제어가 용이해 상온에서 초합금의 용접이 가능한 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 일반적인 재료로 연성이 좋은 STS304 판재와 실제 블레이드의 재료로 사용되는 니켈계 석출강화 합금인 GTD 111DS 모재에 $CO_2$ 레이저를 이용하여 용접을 실시하였고 적용파우더와 파워, 용접속도 및 파우더 공급량 등을 달리 하였다. STS304 판재 사용시 Rene 80과 IN 625 파우더 모두 용접부에서 균열이 발생하지 않았다. 그러나 GTD 111DS 모재의 경우 IN 625 파우더에서는 결함이 없었으나 Rene 80 파우더를 사용시에는 용접부에 균열이 발생하였다. IN 625 파우더는 모재보다 기계적 성질이 떨어지는 문제가 있으나 Rene 80은 모재와 동등 이상의 기계적 성질을 보유하고 있기 때문에 Rene 80 의 적용을 위해 균열이 발생하지 않는 용접변수의 제어를 시도하였다. 용접변수의 조정 결과 레이저 파워와 파우더 공급량을 낮추고 용접속도를 높여 균열이 발생하지 않는 최적의 용접변수를 설정할 수 있었다. 최적화된 용접변수를 적용, 용접한 시편의 인장값을 보면 GTD 111DS 모재에 Rene 80 파우더로 용접된 시편의 인장강도가 상온/고온($760^{\circ}C$)의 조건에서 각각 GTD 111DS 모재의 인장강도 보다 높은 값을 나타내었다.

이종재료 레이저 용접 판재의 저주기 피로 특성 (The Low Cycle Fatigue Behavior of Laser Welded Sheet Metal for Different Materials)

  • In this study, low fatigue behavior of laser welded sheet metal were investigated. Before welding, the cross section of butt joint was prepared only by fine shearing without milling process. Specimens were same sheet metal and welding condition that using automobile manufacturing company at present. Butt joint of cold rolled sheet metal was welded by $CO_2$ laser. It is used that welding condition such as laser welding speed was 5.5m/sec and laser output power was 5kW for 0.8mm and 1.2mm sheet metal. The laser weldments were machined same or different thickness and same or different material. In order to mechanical properties of around welding zone, hardness test was performed. Hardness of welding bead is about 2 times greater than base material. We performed the low cycle fatigue tests for obtaining fatigue properties about thickness and the weld line direction of specimen. The results of strain controlled low cycle fatigue test indicate that all specimens occur cyclic softening, as indicated by the decrease in stress to reach a prescribed strain.

  • A basic research for tailored blank welding between mild steel and Zn-coated steel was carried out with $CO_2$ laser beam. The materials used in this work were low carbon steel sheet with a thickness of 1.2mm and Zn-coated steel sheet with the same thickness and 6.3$\mu$m Zn coating. Experiments were carried out by applying the Taguchi method in order to obtain optimized conditions for the application of tailored blank laser welding method in practical manufacturing process. Optical microscopy, XRD, SEM and TEM analysis were performed to observe microstructures and to determine the solidification mode of welded zone. Also mechanical properties were measured by microhardness test tensile test and Erichsen test in order to evaluate the formability of welded specimen. There was no trapped Zn in the fusion zone, and the phases in this region consisted of polygonal ferrite, quasi-polygonal ferrite, banitic ferrite and martensite. The elongation value of welded specimen was more than 80% of that value in the substrate and LDH value was more than 90% of that value in the substrate metal.

레이저 용접시 용접결함의 실시간 모니터링법 개발에 관한 연구 (Fundamental Study on the Weld Defects and Its Real-time Monitoring Method)

  • This study was undertaken to obtain the fundamental knowledges on the weld deflects and it's realtime monitoring method. The paper describes the results of high speed photography, acoustic emission (AE) detection and plasma light emission (LE) measurements during $CO_2$ laser welding of STS 304 stainless steel and A5083 aluminum alloy in different welding condition. The characteristic frequencies of plasma and keyhole fluctuations at different welding speed and shield gases were measured and compared with the results of Fourier analyses of temporal AE and LE spectra, and they had considerably good agreement with keyhole and plasma fluctuation. Namely, the low frequency peaks of AE and LE shifted to higher frequency range with the welding speed increase, and leer the argon shield gas it was higher than that in helium and nitrogen gases. The low frequencies dominating in fluctuation spectra of LE probably reflect keyhole opening instability. It is possible to monitor the weld bead deflects by analyzing the acoustic and/or plasma light emission signals.

  • The laser strengthening of $35kgf/\textrm{mm}^2$ grade steel sheet is investigated by using $CO_2$ laser beam irradiation. The increase of tensile strength is dominated by the number of fully penetrated melting lines. Also, the optimal laser irradiation pattern is obtained by 3-point bending test. Local laser strengthening clay be effective for the weight reduction of automobile components where the tailored welded blank can not be applied.

  • The spatter and porosity could be occurred during $CO_2$ CW laser welding of Primer-coated Steel for Shipbuilding. This study has suggested an alternative idea by examining of weld-defect formation mechanism. The primer-coated plate has caused the spatter, humping bead and porosity and these are main part of the welding defect, attributed to the powerful vaporizing pressure of primer attached on the base metal. The zinc of primer has a boiling point that is the lower temperature than melting point of steel. Zinc va}X)f will build up at the interface between the two sheets and this tends to deteriorate the quality of the weld by ejecting weld material from lap position or leaving porosity. Therefore introducing a small gap clearance in the lap position, the zinc vapor could escape through it and sound weld beads can be acquired. In conclusion, we suggested the occurred and prevented mechanism of weld defects with searching the factor.
