비오옴 ZnO 세라믹스의 형성과정에서 스피넬의 영향 (Effects of Spinel on the Formation Process of Nonohmic ZnO Ceramics)

  • Sintering behavior, distribution of dopant oxides and electrical properties in the ZnO-Bi2O3-CoO-Sb2O3 and ZnO-Bi2O3-CoO-Sb2O3-Cr2O3 systems were studied. The linear shrinkage of ZnO varistors from 850 to 950$^{\circ}C$ was related to the decomposition reaction (py\longrightarrowsp+Bi2O3) of the pyrochlore phase. In the distribution of the dopant oxides (CoO, Sb2O3, Cr2O3), Co distribute uniformly throughout the sample, the distribution of Sb coincided with small particles (spinel phase, Zn7Sb2O12), and Cr distributed very consistently with Sb. The increase in breakdown voltage, due to the addition of Cr2O3, was not only attributed to the decrease in the ZnO grain size but also to the solution of Cr2O3 in the spinel phase. The leakage current (80% V60 ${\mu}\textrm{A}$) was increased by the addition of Cr2O3.

  • $BiFeO_3$ (BFO)박막에 전위금속 Pb와 Co를 각각 치환환 박막을 chemical solution deposition 방법으로 Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si(100) 기판위에 증착하였다. Bi 자리에 Pb와 Co를 20 at.% 치환하였으며, 치환된 $Bi_{0.8}Pb_{0.2}FeO_3$ (BPFO), $Bi_{0.8}Co_{0.2}FeO_3$ (BCFO) 박막의 구조적, 자기적 특성 변화를 BFO 박막과 비교하여 조사하였다. XRD 패턴을 분석한 결과 BPFO, BCFO 박막들은 모두 rhombohedrally distorted perovskite 구조였으며 불순물인 pyrochlore 상이 약하게 관측되었다. 치환이 이루어진 BPFO, BCFO 박막들의 자기 이력곡선은 안정된 포화곡선을 나타냈으며 BFO의 포화값(5 emu/$cm^3$)에 비해 크게 증가된 55 emu/$cm^3$, 35 emu/$cm^3$의 값을 나타냈다. 또한 보자력장(coercive field, Hc)값도 BFO의 500 Oe보다 크게 증가된 1,200 Oe, 800 Oe의 값을 보였다.

  • In this paper, the $(SrPb)(CaMg)TiO_3$ ceramics with paraelectric properties were fabricated by the mixed oxide method. It was investigated that which the variation of contents of $Bi_2O_3{\cdot}3TiO_2$ effects on structural, dielectrical and electrical properties of specimens. As a result, the grain size were grown with increasing the contents of $Bi_2O_3{\cdot}3TiO_2$. The relative dielectric constants were increased up to 4[mol%] of $Bi_2O_3{\cdot}3TiO_2$, and decreased more or less at a low temperature in the specimens which had more than. But the temperature coefficient. of capacitance were showed ${\pm}25$[%]. The dielectric loss were less than 0.05 in all specimens which had more than 4[mol%] of $Bi_2O_3{\cdot}3TiO_2$. In order to investigate the behavior of charged particles, the characteristics of electrical conduction were measured. As a result, the conduction current was divided into the three steps as a function of DC electric field. The first step was Ohmic region due to ionic conduction, below 15[kV/cm]. The second step was showed a saturation which seems to be related to a depolarizing field occuring in field-enforced ferroelectric phase, between 15[kV/cm] and 40[kV/cm]. The third step was attributed to Child's law related to space charge which injected from electrode, above 40[kV/cm].

Phase transition of (Bi, Pb)-2223 superconductor induced by Fe3O4 addition

  • We investigated the effect of Fe3O4 addition on the critical temperature of (Bi, Pb)-2223 polycrystalline samples. Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+δ + x wt. % Fe3O4 (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8) samples were prepared by using a solid-state reaction method. The analysis of X-ray diffraction data indicates that as Fe3O4 is added, dominant phase of the sample changes from Bi-2223 to Bi-2212 with an increasing Bi-2201 phase. The transition temperature of the samples drastically decreased with the Fe3O4 addition. The resistance data of samples with x = 0.2 and 0.4 showed a double transition indicating a coexistence of Bi-2223 and Bi-2212 phase while the samples with x = 0.6 and 0.8 showed a single transition with a semiconducting behavior. This phase transition may originate from changes in local structure of the Bi-2223 system by Fe3O4 addition. Analysis of the pair distribution function of the Cu-O pair in the CuO2 plane calculated from extended X-ray absorption fine structure data revealed that the oxygen coordination of copper ion changes from CuO4 planar type (x = 0.0 - 0.4) to CuO5 pyramidal type (x = 0.6, 0.8). The correlated Debye-Waller factor, providing information on the atomic disorder within the CuO2 plane, shows an inverse relation to the coordination number. These results indicate that addition of Fe3O4 changes the oxygen distribution around Cu in the CuO2 plane, causing a phase transition from Bi-2223 to more stable Bi-2212/Bi-2201 phases.

Thermal and electrical properties of $Bi_2O_3-B_2O_3-ZnO$ glasses for the application to plasma display panel

  • In this study, $Bi_2O_3-B_2O_3-ZnO$ glass system, which was expected to have similar properties with PbO containing glass system, was selected as a PbO replaceable potential composition because the atomic weight and ionic radius of Bi is similar to those of Pb. Glasses with different modifier/former ratio were prepared by melting the raw ingredient mixtures in $Bi_2O_3-B_2O_3-ZnO$ system, and the thermal and electrical properties of the sintered samples were examined. The glass transition temperatures and the dielectric constant of the glass pellets were between 350 $^{\circ}C{\sim}$500 $^{\circ}C$ and 15-35, respectively.

비 휘발성 기억소자 용 $SrBi_2Ta_2O_9$ 박막의 강유전체 특성 (Ferroelectric Properties of Chiral Compound $SrBi_2Ta_2O_9$ Thin Films for Non-Volatile Memories)

  • Ferroelectric SrBi2Ta2O9 (SBT) thin films of Pt/Ti/SiO2 electrode were fabricated using a sintered SBT target with various Bi2O3 content by rf magnetron sputtering. Good hysteresis loop characteristics were observed in the SBT thin films deposited with 50mol% excess Bi target. SBT thin films crystallized from 650℃ however, good hysteresis loop can be obtained in the film annealed above 700℃. pt/TiO2/SiO2 and Pt/SiO2 electrodes were also used to investigate the Pt electrode dependence of SBT thin films. SBT thin films showed random oriented polycrystalline structure and similar morphology regardless of electrodes with quite different surface morphology. A 0.2㎛ thick SBT film annealed at 750℃ exhibited the remanent polarization (2Pr) of μC/㎠ and coercive voltage(Vc) of 1V at an applied voltage of 5V.

Bi-materials of Al-Mg Alloy Reinforced with/without SiC and Al2O3 Particles; Processing and Mechanical Properties

  • The bi-materials with Al-Mg alloy and its composites reinforced with SiC and $Al_2O_3$ particles were prepared by conventional powder metallurgy method. The A1-5 wt%Mg and composite mixtures were compacted under $150{\sim}450\;MPa$, and then the mixtures compacted under 400 MPa were sintered at $773{\sim}1173K$ for 5h. The obtained bi-materials with Al-Mg/SiCp composite showed the higher relative density than those with $Al-Mg/Al_2O_3$ composite after compaction and sintering. Based on the results, the bi-materials compacted under 400 MPa and sintered at 873K for 5h were used for mechanical tests. In the composite side of bi-materials, the SiC particles were densely distributed compared to the $Al_2O_3$ particles. The bi-materials with Al-Mg/SiC composite showed the higher micro-hardness than those with $Al-Mg/Al_2O_3$ composite. The mechanical properties were evaluated by the compressive test. The bi-materials revealed almost the same value of 0.2% proof stress with Al-Mg alloy. Their compressive strength was lower than that of Al-Mg alloy. Moreover, impact absorbed energy of bi-materials was smaller than that of composite. However, the bi-materials with Al-Mg/SiCp composite particularly showed almost similar impact absorbed energy to $Al-Mg/Al_2O_3$ composite. From the observation of microstructure, it was deduced that the bi-materials was preferentially fractured through micro-interface between matrix and composite in the vicinity of macro-interface.

Bi2O3 첨가량에 따른 저온소결 PbTiO3계 세라믹스의 유전 및 압전특성 (Dielectric and Piezoelectric Characteristics of Low Temperature Sintering PbTiO3 System Ceramics with amount of Bi2O3 Addition)

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering ceramics for thickness vibration mode multilayer piezoelectric transformer, $PbTiO_3$ system ceramics were fabricated using $Na_2CO_3,\;Li_2CO_3,\;MnO_2\;and\;Bi_2O_3$ as sintering aids and their dielectric and piezoeletric properties were investigated according to the amount of $Bi_2O_3$ addition. At the sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C\;and\;Bi_2O_3$ addition of 0.1 wt%, density, grain size, thickness vibration mode eletromechanical coupling factor($k_t$), thickness vibration mode mechanical quality factor($Q_{mt}$) and dielecteic constant(${\varepsilon}_r$) showed the optimum value of $6.94g/cm^3,\;2.413{\mu}m$, 0.497, 3,162 and 209, respectively, for thickness vibration mode multilayer piezoelectric transformer application.

Bi12(Si,Ge)O20 단결정의 전기 및 광학적 특성 (Electrical and Optical Properties of Bi12(Si,Ge)O20 Single Crystals)

  • $Bi_{12}(Si,Ge)O_{20}$ 단결정의 전기 및 광학적 특성을 규명하기 위하여 Czochralski법으로 단결정을 성장시켜, 직류전기전도도와 교류전기전도도 그리고 광투과도를 측정하였다. 직류전기전도도에 대한 활성화 에너지 $E_g$는 1.12 eV 이고, 광학적 갭 $E_{opt}$는 2.3 eV였다. $Bi_{12}(Si,Ge)O_{20}$ 단결정의 교류전기전도도는 측정온도 범위는 290 K에서 570 K까지 였으며 측정주파수는 50 kHz에서 30 MHz 까지 였다. 교류전기전도도는 ${\omega}^s$에 비례하는 hopping 전도 가구를 나타내었으며, 고주파수영역에서 지수값은 s=2로 구해졌다. 유전상수는 $Bi_{12}(Si,Ge)O_{20}$ 단결정의 경우 54이고 $Bi_{12}(Si,Ge)O_{20}$ 단결정의 경우 41정도의 크기를 보였다.

$BaTiO_3$계 PTC 재료에서 입계 modifier의 역할 (The role of grain boundary modifier in $BaTiO_3$ system for PTCR device)

  • 본 연구에서는 입계의 성질을 이용한 PTCR 재료에 입계 modifier로서 $Bi_2O_3$를 첨가하고 입계의 미세구조와 결함농도를 변화시켜 이에 따른 소결 및 전기적 특성변화를 TMA, XRD, 복합 임피던스방법 등을 이용하여 해석하였다. 실험 결과 Y이 도우핑된 $BaTiO_3$PTCR 재료에 $Bi_2O_3$를 첨가하였을때 약 0.1mol%까지 고용이 되는 것으로 밝혀졌다. $Bi_2O_3$를 고용한계 이하로 첨가시에는 생성되는 vacancy등의 결함으로 말미암아 $Y-BaTiO_3$의 치밀화가 촉진되었으나, 그 이상 첨가하면 치밀화 뿐만 아니라 결정립 성장도 억제되었다. $Bi_2O_3$의 첨가량에 따라 계내에 존재하는 각 이온의 반경, 결함 반응식 및 격자 탄성 변형 에너지 등을 고려하면 $Y-BaTiO_3$결정립 내부에 Ba와 Ti vacancy가 동시에 생길 수 있어 고온저항이 높아짐을 알 수 있었다. BN은 $BaTiO_3$에 고용이 되지 않는 것으로 밝혀졌으며 $B_2O_3$를 주성분으로한 액상형성으로 인하여 저온에서의 급격한 치밀화가 관찰되었다. 또 Ba-Y-Ti-B-O의 비정질 상이 tripie junction에 존재함으로써 상온저항이 크게 변화하였으며, PTCR jump도 높아졌다.
