Coarsening Advantage of Twinned BaTiO3 Seed Particle

  • The coarsening process of two different $BaTiO_3$ single crystal seeds, one with a (111) double twin and the other without it, was investigated. Due to the presence of Twin Plane Reentrant Edge (TPRE), the coarsening rate of the twinned seed crystal was significantly higher than that without a twin. For the coarsening by the 2-dimensional nucleation and lateral growth, the energy barrier for nucleation at the TPRE was analyzed to be about a half compared with that at the terrace planes.

  • In this experiment, an attempt to use the sludge pellets as catalyst for NO removal from simulated gas is experimentally investigated by using cylinder type reactor and packed-bed reactor. An experimental investigation has been conducted for NO concentration of 50[ppm], 100[ppm], 200[ppm] balanced with air, a gas flow rate of 5[1/min]. Ac voltage to discharge the gases was supplied. In the result, NOx removal rate in packed bed reactor is higher than that in cylinder type reactor. it is thought that plasma density in contact point of BaTiO$_3$ is significantly higher than that in cylinder reactor.

  • An optical novelty filter is implemented using photorefractive materal(BaTiO$_{3}$) as a recording materal and commercial liquid crystal TV as a spatial light polarization modulator. If a signal beam incident at the proper, the loop and the crossing angle inside th e crystal is formed to get maximum diffraction efficiency and BaTiO$_{3}$ as a self-pumped phase conjugation mirror show that phase conjugate reflectivity was 20 times as much as ordinary polarization if signal beam is extraordinary. In this paper, the stoke's theorem which is a reciprocal theorem for which is a reciprocal theorem for beam path is experimentally proved, and good output images were obtained with optical experiment of novelty filter which is formed by use of Michelson interferometer.

  • Performance evaluation of inexpensive LCTV to function as a two-dimensional spatial light modulator is performed. Correction of the phase distortion of the device is performed using the substrate of hologram plate and index matching oil. A new method for eliminating electrode grid pattern that incorporates phase conjugation in a BaTiO3 crystal is proposed and experimented.

  • 비 직선적 정(+) 저항온도계수 특성을 갖는 PTC thermistor는 전이온도(큐리점) 부근에서 온도변화에 대하여 극히 큰 저항 값의 변화를 나타내는 산화물계반도체 저항기(또는 발열체)로써, 일반적으로 반도체의 온도-저항 특성과 같이 상온영역에서 온도의 상승과 함께 부성저항 특성을 나타내다가 온도가 점점 증가하여 큐리점 부근에 도달하면 저항이 급격히 증가하는 독특한 특성을 갖는다. Perovskite 구조의 $BaTiO_3$를 주성분으로 미량의 Dopant를 첨가하여 도전성을 갖게 한 N형 반도체의 일종으로 저항-온도 특성 전류-전압 특성, 전류감쇄 특성 등을 이용하여 과전류 보호회로, 히터, TV 소자회로(degausser), 모터기동회로, 온도센서, 정온발열기기 등으로 널리 사용된다. 본 연구는 큐리점 부근의 급격한 저항변화 현상과 결정입계의 전위장벽 형성 및 그에 따른 정온발열 기능의 상관성으로부터 그 응용성을 조사하였다.

  • MLCCs are used broadly in electronic industry like smart phone and TV. Although they are fabricated in small size and have high capacitance, there are acoustic noise problems to reduce comfort of user. Acoustic noise results from linear piezoelectricity and nonlinear electrostriction of $BaTiO_3$ in MLCC and there are some researches on MLCC vibration under AC electric field. When only AC electric field without DC bias is applied to MLCC, fundamental frequency response is affected by piezoelectricity and second-harmonic frequency response shows electrostrictive vibration. In this study we get vibration shape of MLCC under AC electric field for each frequency and analysis on the mechanism of MLCC vibration affected by piezoelectricity and electrostriction.

  • MLCC (Multi-layer Ceramic Capacitor) is the most important passive component in electronic devices such as HHP, PC and digital display. The development trend of MLCC is a miniaturization with increasing the capacitance. In this paper, a development history of the high capacitance MLCC in Korea was introduced, and the necessity of the finer $BaTiO_3$ was explained in the viewpoint of the issued electrical and dielectric properties of high capacitance MLCC. The bottleneck technologies to realize the high capacitance was shortly introduced, followed by the prediction of the development trend of MLCC in near future.

  • (Ba,Sr,Ca)$TiO_3$ powders, which were prepared by sol-gel method using a solution of Ba-acetate, Sr-acetate and Ca-acetate and Ti iso-propoxide, were mixed with organic vehicle and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing techniques on high purity alumina substrates. The structural and dielectric properties were investigated for various $Dy_2O_3$ doping contents. As a result of thermal analysis, the exothermic peak was observed at around $670^{\circ}C$ due to the formation of the polycrystalline perovskite phase. All BSCT thick films, sintered at $1420^{\circ}C$ for 2h, showed the typical XRD patterns of perovskite polycrystalline structure and no pyrochlore phase was observed. The average grain size of the specimens decreased with.

  • 공통의 glass를 이용한 LTCC 이종소재의 무수축 접합 가능성을 확인하기 위하여 2종의 상용 glass를 이용하여 소결온도를 변화시키면서 미세구조 및 결정구조, x-y축 방향의 수축율을 관찰하였다. 실험 결과 GA-12 glass는 강유전체 $BaTiO_3$와 glass의 composite개념을 이용한 접합에 적절하지 않은 것으로 판단되었으며, GA-1 glass의 경우는 $750^{\circ}C$$800^{\circ}C$ 사이에서 glass의 충분한 침투조건이 확인되며, 결정구조 에서도 glass/$BaTiO_3$ composite이 형성되므로 layer 간의 delamination은 발견되지만 x-y축 방향의 무수축 접합의 가능성이 확인되었다.
