A Study on Powder Electroluminescent Device through Structure and Thickness Variation (구조 및 두께 변화에 따른 후막 전계발광 소자에 관한 연구)

  • Powder electroluminescent device (PELD) structured conventionally dielectric and phosphor layer, between electrode and their layer fabricated by screen printing splaying or spin coating method. To promote performance of PELDs, we approached the experiments for different structure and thickness variation of PELD. Thickness variation($30{\mu}m{\sim}130{\mu}m$) was taken. To investigate electrical and optical properties of PELDs, EL spectrum, transferred charge density using Sawyer-Tower's circuit brightness was measured. Variation of structure in PELDs was as follows: WK-1 (ITO/BaTiO3/ZnS:Cu/Silver paste), WK-2 (ITO/BaTiO3/ZnS:Cu/BaTiO3/ZnS:Silver paste), WK-3 (ITO/BaTiO3/ZnS:Cu/BaTiO3/Silver paste), WK-4(ITO/BaTiO3+ZnS:Cu/Silver paste) As a result, structure of the highest brightness appeared WK-4 possessed 60 ${\mu}m$ thickness. The brightness was 2719 cd/$m^2$ at 100V, 400Hz.

  • Distribution of Pr ions between Y- and Ba-site of the $Y(Ba_{1-Xn}Pr_{Xn})_2Cu_3O_y$ ($0{\leq}Xn{\leq}{0.3}$, Xn : nominal composition) material prepared by the solid state reaction method was studied. Although the samples have narrow superconducting transition, tiny peaks of $Y_2BaCuO_5$ impurity phase are included in the x-ray diffraction patterns suggesting that some of the Pr ions are entered into the Y-site. The distribution of Pr ions between Y- and Ba-site was determined by measuring the mass fraction of YBCO and $Y_2BaCuO_5$ phase for each sample through the Rietveld analysis of the x-ray diffraction data. About 60 % of Pr ions occupy the Y-site regardless of the Pr content. Various superconducting parameters such as the oxygen content and the hole concentration etc. are compared before and after the impurity correction.

  • [ $BaO-Sm_2O_3-4TiO_2$ ] 세라믹을 LTCC용 재료로 사용하기 위해 $B_2O_3$와 CuO를 소결조제로 첨가하여 소결온도를 낮추었다. 10.0 mol%의 $B_2O_3$만을 첨가하였을 경우 $1000^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 소결시 er=72.23, Qf=4,050GHz, ${\tau}f=-0.574ppm/^{\circ}C$의 우수한 유전 특성값을 얻을 수 있었지만, $960^{\circ}C$이하에서는 소결이 잘 이루어지지 않았다. $B_2O_3$와 CuO를 동시에 소결조제로 첨가하였을 경우에는 $900^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 소결시 10.0 mol% $B_2O_3$, 15.0 mol% CuO의 첨가조성에서 ${\varepsilon}r$=70.09, Qf=4,728GHz의 우수한 유전특성을 보여 고유전율을 가진 저온 동시 소결용 재료로서의 가능성을 보여주었다. 이처럼 BaO-$Sm_2O_3-4TiO_2$ 세라믹의 소결온도를 낮출 수 있었던 요인은 소결온도보다 용융점이 낮은 2차상들이 액상을 형성하여 액상소결이 진행되었기 때문이며 이때 소결에 기여한 이차상들은 결정화되지 못하고 비정질 상태로 남아있는 것으로 추정된다.

  • The $Y_1Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$(123) superconductor powders were prepared by pyrophoric synthesis method(PSM) using $Y_2O_3$(99.9%), $BaCO_3$(99.9%), and CuO(99.9%) powders. The phase formation and reaction kinetics of 123 superconductor manufactured with powders prepared in various pHs of pyrophoric synthetic solution have been studied through the experiments at various heat treatment temperatures and times. Inductively coupled plasma(ICP) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) measurements were performed to examine the composition and morphology of the sample. X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis was done to determine phase formation and conversion ratio of Y-Ba-Cu-O systems. The 123 powder prepared at pH 7(${\pm}0.3$) yields the best result in terms of purity, homogeneity, and reactivity. The activation energies(${\Delta}E_a$) of 123 phase formation were found to be 191 kJ/mol and 230kJ/mol in solid state reaction method and pyrophoric synthesis method, respectively.

  • Degradation of the 90 K superconductor $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ in water and humid atmosphere were studied and its decomposition products were identified as $BaCO_3$, CuO, $Y_2(CO_3)_3{\cdot}3H_2O$ and $O_2$. XRD analysis, iodometric titration and IR-spectroscopy of the degraded samples suggest that the $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ decomposes in three steps such as the reduction of $Cu^{3+}$ to $Cu^{2+}$, followed by the hydroxylation of $Ba^{2+}$ and $Y^{3+}$ via hydration and finally the formation of carbonates through the uptake of ambient $CO_2$.

Superconducting Properties of Large Single Grain Gd1.5Ba2Cu3O7-y Bulk Superconductors (대면적 단결정 Gd1.5Ba2Cu3O7-y 벌크 초전도체의 초전도 특성)

  • Large single grain $Gd_{1.5}Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ (Gd1.5) bulk superconductors were fabricated by a top-seeded melt growth (TSMG) process using an $NdBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ seed. The seeded Gd1.5 powder compacts with a diameter of 50 mm were subjected to the heating cycles of a TSMG process. After the TSMG process, the diameter of the single grain Gd1.5 compact was reduced to 43 mm owing to the volume contraction during the heat treatment. The superconducting transition temperature ($T_c$) of the top surface of the single grain Gd1.5 sample was as high as 93.5 K. The critical current densities ($J_cs$) at 77 K and 1T and 1.5 T were in ranges of 25,200-43,900 $A/cm^2$ and 10,000-23,000 $A/cm^2$, respectively. The maximum attractive force at 77 K of the sample field-cooled using an Nd-B-Fe permanent magnet (surface magnetic field of 0. 527 T) was 108.3 N; the maximum repulsive force of the zero field-cooled sample was 262 N. The magnetic flux density of the sample field-cooled at 77 K was 0.311T, which is approximately 85% of the applied magnetic field of 0.375 T. Microstructure investigation showed that many $Gd_2BaCuO_5$ (Gd211) particles of a few ${\mu}m$ in size, which are flux pinning sites of Gd123, were trapped within the $GdBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ (Gd123) grain; unreacted $Ba_3Cu_5O_8$ liquid and Gd211 particles were present near the edge regions of the single grain Gd1.5 bulk compact.

Magnetic Anisotropy in High $T_c\;Y_1Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ Superconductor (고온초전도체 $Y_1Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$의 자기이방성)

  • Magnetic properties of grain aligned high $T_c\;Y_1Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ superconductor are inverstigated. Grain-aligned superconductors have magnetic anisotropy in the Cu-O layer like single crystals. The lower critical field $H_{c1},$ measured at the temperature range of 2 K up to 77 K, is found to be decreasing linearly as temperature goes up. Moreover, it decreaes more rapidly when the Cu-O layer is perpendicular to the external magnetic field. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility shows that the value of magnetic susceptibility, $4{\pi}\;X,$ is close to -1 at low temperature. The intra grain critical current density $J_c,$ obtained from the Bean's critical state model, is found to be comparable to that of single crystal superconductors.

The Improvement of MTG Process for Preparation of YBCO superconductor

  • In the YBCO matrix, 10wt.% Y$_2$BaCuO$\_$5/ (211 phase) was added, the final 211 content of YBCO made by MTG process could reach about 20wt.% which was the optimum value for the critical current density. And also 10wt.% Ag was added in the matrix of YBCO, which was nearly about the saturate solubility of silver in textured YBCO. SmBaCuO crystal was grown by the melted-condensed process. A 5${\times}$5${\times}$2㎣ single crystal of SmBaCuO was used to be the seed in the preparation of YBCO. It was proved the orientation of YBCO was the same as the orientation of the SmBaCuO seed. The oxygen absorption of bulk oriented YBCO was studied and the heat treatment of oxygen absorption would be in flowing oxygen, at 400$^{\circ}C$ for about 24 hours. the magnetic hysteresis loops were measured by Vibrating Smaple Magnetometer and the J$\_$c/ was calcuated by means of Bean's model.

  • For the fabrication of YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{x}$ thick film using diffusion process between $Y_3$BaCuO$_{5}$ and BaO+CuO, each material was selected as substrate and doping material. In this paper, we investigated the characteristic of YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{x}$ thick film due to both addition of CeO$_2$into substrate and initial particle size of doping material. Through X-ray diffraction patterns and SEM photographs, the variation of composition and thickness of the formed phase was observed. It was from the experiment obtained that the addition of CeO$_2$into $Y_2$BaCuO$_{5}$ substrate and the initial particle size of doping material play important part in promoting the reaction between substrate and doping material.aterial.

Effect of Pr substitution on the normal-state and superconducting properties of GdBa$_2$(Cu$_{2.9}$Al$_{0.1}$)O$_z$

  • We report results of a comparative study of the normal-state and superconducting properties in the GdBa$_2$(Cu$_{2.9}$Al$_{0.1}$)O$_z$ system with substitutions by Pr for the Gd and Ba sites. It is observed that, fur both Pr-doped systems, the superconducting transition temperature(T$_c$) decreases almost linearly with the Pr-content, but Pr at Ba sites results in a faster T$_c$ drop than that of Pr at Gd sites. The thermoelectric power measurements indicate that there is a strong correlation between the T$_c$ and the room temperature value of thermoelectric power. The experimental results are discussed in connection with existing models.
