Biomimetic actuators composed of cellophane with an electrically conducting polyaniline(PANI) film have been fabricated and tested in air ambience conditions doped with two different counter ions such as perchlorate (${ClO_4}^-$) and tetrafluoroborate (${BF_4}^-$). Fabrication of the trilayer CP//CELLOPHANE//CP substantially enhanced the tip displacement (13.2mm) compared to the small displacement (8.3mm) of the bilaye. CP//CELLOPHANE. The ion migration among layers is the main factor behind the expansion of cellophane, while the expansion/contraction of PANI are dependent on the redox reaction of the polymer. The displacement of the composite is dominated by the humidity content. This implies that the actuation principle is possibly due to the assistance of water existing.
Chemically-modified electrodes were fabricated and their electrocatalytic behaviors have been investigated. As a modifying layer, poly-[1-methyl-3-(pyrrol-1-ylmethyl) pyridinium] was electropolymerized onto Pt electrodes under constant current. The thickness of the polymer film was controlled by means of total charge consumed during the electropolymerization. SEM was used to measure the thickness. There was a linear relationship between the passed charge and the film thickness. Ferro/ferricyanide, used as an electron mediator in this study, was rapidly ion-exchanged into the polymer layer with its concentration of 1.2~1.3M. It was found that electrooxidation of ascorbic acid is catalyzed by incorporated ferri/ferrocyanide couple. Kinetic parameters for electrooxidation were determined by RDE experiments. The results indicate that the present system corresponds to ER+S case based on the Saveant theory. Improving methods have been proposed to be R+S case which is ideal for electrocatalysis.

This paper suggests the optimum processing conditions for obtaining good quality $P^{+}$-n shallow junctions formed by pre-amorphization and furnace annealing(FA) to reflow BPSG(bore phosphosilicate glass). $BF_2$ions, the p-type dopant, were implanted with the energy of 20keV and the dose of 2$\times$10$^{15}$ cm$^{-2}$ into the substrates pre-amorphized by As or Ge ions with 45keV, 3$\times$$10^{14}$$cm^{-2}$. High temperature annealings were performed with a furnace and a rapid thermal annealer. The temperature range of RTA was 950~$1050^{\circ}C$, and the furnace annealing was employed for BPSG reflow with the temperature of $850^{\circ}C$ for 40 minutes. To characterize the formed junctions, junction depth, sheet resistance and diode leakage current were measured. Considering the preamorphization species, Ge ion exhibited better results than As ion. Samples preamorphized with Ge ion and annealed with $1000^{\circ}C$ RTA showed the most excellent characteristics. When FA was included, Ge preamorphization with $1050^{\circ}C$ RTA plus FA showed the lowest product of sheet resistance and junction depth and exhibited the lowest leakage currents.

Nanoporous or nanotubular metal oxide can be fabricated by anodization of metal substrate in fluoride contained electrolytes. The approach allows various transition metals such as Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta to form highly ordered oxide nanostructures. These oxide nanostructures have various advantages such as high surface area, fast electron transport rate and slow recombination in semiconductive materials. Recently, vanadium oxide nanostructures have been drawn attentions due to their superior electronic, catalytic and ion insertion properties. However, anodization of vanadium metal to form oxide layers is relatively difficult due to ease formation of highly soluble complex in water contained electrolyte during anodization. Yang et al. reported $[TiF_6]^{2-}$ or $[BF_4]^-$ in electrolyte helps to formation of stable oxide layer [1, 2]. However, the reported approaches are very sensitive in other parameters. In this presentation, we deal with the other important key parameters to form ordered anodic vanadium oxide such as pH, temperatures and applied potential.

Facilitated transport is one of the possible solutions to simultaneously improve permeability and selectivity, which is challenging in conventional polymer-based membranes. Olefin/paraffin separation using facilitated transport membrane has received much attention as an alternative solution to the conventional distillation process. Herein, we report olefin separation composite membranes based on the polymer blends containing $AgBF_4/Al(NO_3)_3$ mixed salts. Free radical polymerization process was used to synthesize an amphiphilic graft copolymer of poly(dimethyl siloxane)-graft- poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PDMS-g-POEM). In addition, poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) was introduced to the PDMS-g-POEM graft copolymer to form polymer blends with various ratios. The propylene/propane mixed-gas selectivity and permeance reached up to 5.6 and 10.05 GPU, respectively, when the PEO loading was 70 wt% in polymer blend. The improvement of olefin separation performance was attributed to the olefin facilitating silver ions as well as the highly permeable blend matrix. The stabilization of silver ions in the composite membrane was achieved through the introduction of $Al(NO_3)_3$ which suppressed the reduction of silver ions to silver particles.
Trantalum thin films have been prepared by DC sputtering onto As, P, and $BF_2$-implanted ($5{\times}10^15cm^-2$) poly-silicon. The heat treatments by rapid thermal annealing(RTA) have been applied to these samples for the formation of silicides. We have studied the application possibility of Ta-silicide as gate electrode and bit line. The silicide formation and the dopant diffusion after the heat treatment were investigated by various methods, such as four-point probe, X-ray, SEM cross sectional views, ${\alpha}$-step, and SIMS, The tantalum disilicide($TaSi_2$) are formed in the temperature above $800^{\circ}C$, and grown in colummar structure. $TaSi_2$ has a good surface roughness, having range from $80{\AA}\;to\;120{\AA}$, and implanted dopants are incoporated into the $TaSi_2$ layer during the RTA temperature.
The $\pi$-complex membranes of poly(styrene-b-(ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene) (SEBS) of two silver salts of $AgBF_4$ and $AgCF_3SO_3$ were prepared and tested for the separation of the propylene/propane mixtures. The Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra of these complexes showed that the silver salts were dissolved in SEBS up to a silver mole fraction of 0.14, due to $\pi$-complexation between the aromatic C=C bonds of styrene blocks and silver ions. Above this solubility limit, ion pairs and high-order ionic aggregates began to form, so that silver salts were distributed unselectively in both the EB and PS blocks. The domain size of the PS blocks was enlarged up to this critical concentration with increasing silver concentration without structural transitions, as confirmed by small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS). These structural properties of the SEBS/silver salt complexes may explain the lower separation properties for propylene/propane mixtures compared to poly(styrene-b-butadiene-b-styrene)(SBS)/silver salt complex membranes.

Shallow $p^{+}$-n junctions were formed by preamorphization, low-energy ion implantation and dual-step annealing processes. Germanium ions were implanted into silicon substrates for preamorphization. The dopant implantation was performed into the preamorphized and non-preamorphized substrates using B $F_2$2 ions. Rapid thermal anneal (RTA) and furnace anneal (FA) were employed for dopant activation and damage removal. Samples were annealed by one of the following four methods; RTA(75$0^{\circ}C$/10s)+Ft FA+RTA(75$0^{\circ}C$/10s), RTA(100$0^{\circ}C$/10s)+FA, FA+The Ge Preamorphized sample exhibited a shallower junction depth than the non-preamorphized sample. When the employed RTA temperature was 100$0^{\circ}C$, FA+RTA annealing sequence exhibited better junction characteristics than RTA+FA thermal cycle from the viewpoint of junction depth, sheet resistance, $R_{s}$$.$$x_{j}$, and leakage current.t.
An analytical method was developed to determine residues of haloxyfop-R and its methyl ester in soils and soybeans using gas-liquid chromatography (GLC) with electron capture detector (ECD). Soil or soybean sample was acidified and extracted with acetone. The extract was then subjected to ion-associated partition to individually separate haloxyfop-R and the neutral methyl ester. One phase containing haloxyfop-R was methylated with $BF_3$/methanol, partitioned to n-hexane and analyzed by GLC/ECD. The other phase containing the methyl ester was further purified by Florisil column chromatography prior to GLC determination. No cross contamination was found between two phases containing each of the acid and methyl ester, thus two compounds can be separately determined as the identical haloxyfop-R-methyl. Overall recoveries of haloxyfop-R from fortified samples averaged 88.2${\pm}$3.9% (n=12) and 88.3${\pm}$4.0% (n=6) for soils and soybeans respectively, and those of haloxyfop-R-methyl showed mean values of 89.2${\pm}$4.0% (n=12) and 85.6${\pm}$5.6% (n=6). Detection limits of both haloxyfop-R and its methyl esterwere 0.005㎎/㎏ and 0.01㎎/㎏ for soil and soybean samples respectively.

Thin films of buckminsterfullerene($C_{60}$) formed by solution drop casting on Pt foil electrode surfaces were studied by cyclic voltammetry(CV) in acetonitrile(MeCN) containing quaternary ammonium or alkali-metal salts as supporting electrolyte. The electrochemical behaviors of $C_{60}$ films are found to be strongly dependent on the nature of the supporting electrolytes, especially with tetrabutyl ammonium perchlorate (TBAP, $NBu_4ClO_4$), and tetrabutyl ammonium tetrafluoroborate ($TBABF_4$, $NBu_4BF_4$). Reasonably stable films are formed into which electrons can be injected. The interaction of $C_{60}$ film with the quaternary ammonium cation may produce the fulleride salts $(TBA^+)(C{_{60}}^-)$ and $(TBA^+)_2(C{_{60}}^{2-})$. The bulk electroreduction with a controlled potential to generate the soluble $C{_{60}}^{3-}$ anions(dark red-brown color) is followed by electrooxidative deposition to produce a neutral $C_{60}$ film on the surface. The peak currents($I_{pc}$ and $I_{pa}$) of these thin film were dramatically decreased with repetitive potential scanning. These results could be explained by the adsorption-desorption phenomena and ion pairing interaction of reduced species($C{_{60}}^-$, and $C{_{60}}^{2-}$) onto the electrode surface. The peak current changes and peak potential shifts of the thin $C_{60}$ film in cyclic voltammograms formed from solution were observed by varying scan rates.
