  • This study was aimed to identify how the main body vibration of power tiller will be transmitted to the trailer, and to find out the basic information for demage reducing method of agricultural products during transportation. The vertical vibration acceleration level was measured at 6 positions, i.e. engine, hitch, seal and three parts of trailer (front middle, and rear) for the not driving but at the engine speeds of 1,000rpm and driving at 0.35m/s. The results of this research could be summarized as follows; 1. For not driving, the accumulated acceleration level up to 120Hz was 50% of total accelerations at engine part and those were 28~41% at other parts. Those up to 40Hz were 20~30% at engine and hitch part and 2~8% at trailer part. And those up to 20Hz were 13~20% at engine and hitch part and 1~4% at trailer part 2. For the driving with 0.35m/s at paved road, the average vertical accelerations were in the range of 0.005~0.058m/s$^2$. The lowest value of 0.005m/s$^2$ was showed at engine part and the value of 0.031-0.058m/s$^2$ was showed at trailer part. 3. For the driving with 0.35m/s, the accumulated value of average vertical accelerations showed the lowest value at engine parts md showed 5 times value of engine part at trailer part especially highest value at middle part of trailer. 4. For the driving with 0.35m/s, the accumulated acceleration level up to 120Hz was 75% of total accelerations at engine part and those were 20~42% at other parts. Ant those up to 20Hz and 40Hz were 24~26% at engine part and 0.1~0.6% at trailer part.

  • Objective : There have been recent reports that mesenchymal stromal cells that are harvested from adipose tissue are able to differentiate into neurons. In the present study, we administered adipose tissue derived stem cells in rats with cerebral infarction in order to determine whether those stem cells could enhance the recovery of motor function. Methods : Cerebral infarction was induced by intraluminal occlusion of middle cerebral artery in rats. The adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells were harvested from inguinal fat pad and proliferated for 2 weeks in DMEM media. Approximately $1{\times}10^6$ cells were injected intravenously or into subdural space of the peri-lesional area. The rotor rod test was performed at preoperative state[before MCA occlusion], and 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10 weeks after the cell therapy. Results : The motor functions that were assessed by rotor rod test at 1 week of the cell therapy were nearly zero among the experimental groups. However, there was apparent motor function recovery after 2 weeks and 4 weeks of cell injection in intravenously treated rats and peri-lesionaly treated rats, respectively, while there was no significant improvement till 8 weeks in vehicle treated rats. Conclusion : These results demonstrate that the adipose derived stem cell treatment improves motor function recovery in rats with cerebral infarction.

  • There is an overall guideline of the installation of air quality monitoring stations in Korea, but specified steps for the selection of monitoring sites for hazardous air pollutants(HAPs) are not provided. In this study, we proposed a systematic method for the selection of monitoring sites for HAPs using geographic information system (GIS). As a case study, the Seoul metropolitan area (Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province) was chosen, and 15 factors including population, vehicle registration, and emission data were compiled for each grid cell ($7km{\times}7km$). The number of factors above the top 30% of individual data for each grid cell was used to select priority monitoring sites for HAPs. In addition, several background sites were added for data comparison and source identification. Three scenarios were suggested: Scenario 1 with 7 sites, Scenario 2 with 17 sites, and Scenario 3 with 30 sites. This proposal is not the final result for an intensive monitoring program, but it is an example of method development for selecting appropriate sampling sites. These results can be applied not only to HAPs monitoring in megacities but also to the national HAPs monitoring network.

  • This paper suggests emergency medical service vehicle (ambulance) algorithm when the emergency patient occurs in order to be sufficient the maximum permission time T of arrival about all sectors in one city that is divided in the various areas. This problem cannot be solved in polynomial times. One can obtains the solution using the integer programming. In this paper we suggest vertex set (or dominating set) algorithm and easily decide the location of ambulances. The core of the algorithm decides the location of ambulance is to the maximum degree vertex among the neighborhood of minimum degree vertex. For the 33 sectors Ostin city in Texas, we apply $3{\leq}T{\leq}20$ minutes. The traditional set cover algorithm with integer programming cannot obtains the solution in several T in 18 cases. But, this algorithm obtains solution for all of the 18 cases.

  • Ginsenoside Rg3 was reported to have important biological activities. We demonstrate conjugation and quantification procedures of ginsenoside Rg3 to gold nanoparticles for future biological and medical applications. Ginsenoside Rg3 was conjugated to spherical gold nanoparticles using a bifunctional heptaethylene glycol linker. The sulfhydryl group of heptaethylene glycol was adsorbed onto gold nanoparticles, and carboxylic acid end of heptaethylene glycol was bonded through a hydroxyl group of Rg3 via ester bond formation. The conjugation of Rg3 was characterized with various spectroscopic techniques, high resolution-transmission electron microscopy, and using Rg3 monoclonal antibody. The Rg3- functionalized gold nanoparticles were $4.7{\pm}1.0$ nm in diameter with a surface charge of -4.12 mV. The total number of Rg3 molecules conjugated to a 3.6 mL solution of gold nanoparticle was determined to be $9.5{\times}10^{14}$ corresponding to ~6 molecules of Rg3/gold nanoparticle. These results suggest that ginsenoside Rg3 is successfully conjugated to gold nanoparticles via heptaethylene glycol linker. The quantification was performed by using Rg3 monoclonal antibody without interference of gold's intrinsic color.

  • In this research, an empirical study on the designed burst pressure of Type3 composite cylinder was performed by hydrostatic burst test equipment. The designed burst pressure of Type3 composite cylinders, which are 6.8 liter and 31 MPa of service pressure, was estimated with the analysis using the finite element method. In order to confirm its accuracy, the burst test of small Type3 composite cylinders was perfomed through three times. The burst test equipment can pressurize to 400 MPa. As a result of comparison between the designed burst pressure and actual burst pressure, the difference was less than 4 percentage. With a test result, the analysis accuracy was verified. This technique will be applied to both qualification and inspection for the composite cylinder.

  • This paper proposes a high step-up converter with zero-voltage transition (ZVT) cell for fuel cell electric vehicle. The proposed converter applies a ZVT cell to a dual floating output boost converter (DFOBC) so that not only the main switch but also the ZVT switch can achieve full-range soft switching. The current rating of the ZVT switch is 17% of the main switch. The proposed converter has high reliability in that no timing issue occurs. Therefore, online calculation is not required. The minimum turn-on time of the ZVT switch that guarantees soft switching at all loads and input/output voltage is obtained by analysis. In addition, the proposed DFOBC allows the use of a 650 V device even at 800 V output and has the advantage of being able to boost the voltage by 3.5 times with 0.56 duty. Planar coupled inductor with PCB winding was successfully implemented with the converter operated at 300 kHz. The 25 kW prototype achieves peak efficiency of 99% and power density of 63 kW/L.

  • Recently, lightweight of automotive parts has been required to solve environmental problems caused by global warming. Accordingly, research and development are proceeded on manufacturing of parts using aluminum that can replace steel for lightweight of the automotive parts. In addition, high strength aluminum can be applied to body parts in order to meet both requirements of lightening and improving crash safety of vehicle. In this study, hot blow forming of roof side rail is employed to manufacturing of the automotive parts with high strength aluminum tube. In hot blow forming, longer forming times and excessive thinning can be occurred as compared with conventional manufacturing processes. So optimization of process conditions is required to prevent excessive thinning and to uniformize thickness distribution with fast forming time. Mechanical properties of high strength aluminum are obtained from tensile test at high temperature. These properties are used for finite element(FE) analysis to investigate the effect of strain rate on thinning and thickness distribution. Variation of thickness was firstly investigated from the result of FE analysis according to tube diameter, where the shapes at cross section of roof side rail are compared with allowable dimensional tolerance. Effective tube diameter is determined when fracture and wrinkle are not occurred during hot blow forming. Also FE analysis with various pressure-time profiles is performed to investigate the their effects on thinning and thickness distribution which is quantitatively verified with thinning factor. As a results, optimal process conditions can be determined for the manufacturing of roof side rail using high strength aluminum.

  • The cost of medical treatment for motor vehicle accidents is increasing every year. In this study, we created a model to predict long-term hospitalization(more than 18 days) among minor patients, which is the main item of increasing traffic accident medical expenses, using five algorithms such as decision tree, and analyzed the factors affecting long-term hospitalization. As a result, the accuracy of the prediction models ranged from 91.377 to 91.451, and there was no significant difference between each model, but the random forest and XGBoost models had the highest accuracy of 91.451. There were significant differences between models in the importance of explanatory variables, such as hospital location, name of disease, and type of hospital, between the long-stay and non-long-stay groups. Model validation was tested by comparing the average accuracy of each model cross-validated(10 times) on the training data with the accuracy of the validation data. To test of the explanatory variables, the chi-square test was used for categorical variables.

  • HEMIRE is a 6,000-meter-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) that has been developed for observation and sampling of objects of interest on the deep seabed. We first carried out deep-seabed exploration around the slopes of the Hupo Bank and the Ulleung Basin in the East Sea in June 2015. Over two weeks, a total of 10 dives were made from a support ship, the R/V Onnuri, at eight stations with water depth ranging between 194 and 2,080 m. The dive times ranged from 1 to 6 hours, depending on the operating conditions. We obtained the following results: 1) video images of the deep seafloor; 2) red snow crab density data (a major fishery resource) and inventories of deep-sea fauna, including an unrecorded organism; 3) specific topographies such as canyons slopes; 4) an undisturbed sediment core obtained using a push corer; and 5) observations of the seabed surface covered with discarded anthropogenic waste material.
