Flash point is the important flammability indicator characterizing the risk of fire and explosion of flammable liquid mixture. In this study, flash points of water+formic acid and water+acrylic acid were measured by Seta flash apparatus. The flash points estimated by the methods based on empirical equation and Raoult's law were compared with experimental flash points. Absolute average errors of the results estimated by Raoult's law are $10.7^{\circ}C$ and $4.8^{\circ}C$ for water+formic acid and water+acrylic acid, respectively. Absolute average errors of the results estimated by empirical equation are $1.0^{\circ}C$ and $0.5^{\circ}C$ for water+formic acid and water+acrylic acid, respectively. In conclusion, the estimated values by empirical equation simulated the measured values better than those calculated by Raoult's law.

The effect of fluctuating temperature on the respiration of vegetables has been investigated. Spinach was selected as the experimental material because of its high respiratory activity and kept under the condition that temperature changed alternately at low and high levels every 4 hours. The low-high level temperature combination was set in $1-10^{\circ}C,{\;}1-20^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}1-30^{\circ}C$. Respiration was evaluated in terms of quantity of $CO_2$ evolved from spinach. The evolution rate of $CO_2$ was determined by a change in its concentration. The evaluation rate of $CO_2$ followed closely the temperature change. In the temperature combinations at $1-10^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}1-20^{\circ}C$, the relationship between $CO_2$ evolution rate and temperature was found to be able to express by Arrhenius law, while at $1-30^{\circ}C$, it did not obey the law.
Physical conditions play vital role on the mechanical properties of frozen soil, especially for the temperature and moisture content of frozen soil. Subsequently, they influence the subsidence and stress law of permafrost layer. Taking Jiangcang No. 1 Coal Mine as engineering background, combined with laboratory experiment, field measurements and empirical formula to obtain the mechanical parameters of frozen soil, the thick plate mechanical model of permafrost was established to evaluate the safety of permafrost roof. At the same time, $FLAC^{3D}$ was used to study the influence of temperature and moisture content on the deformation and stress law of frozen soil layer. The results show that the failure tensile stress of frozen soil is larger than the maximum tensile stress of permafrost roof occurring in the process of mining. It indicates that the permafrost roof cannot collapse under the conditions of moisture content in the range from 20% to 27% as well as temperature in the range from $-35^{\circ}C$ to $-15^{\circ}C$. Moreover, the maximum subsidence of the upper and lower boundary of the overlying permafrost layer decreases with the increase of moisture content in the range of 15% to 27% or the decrease of temperature in the range of $-35^{\circ}C$ to $-15^{\circ}C$ if the temperature or moisture content keeps consistent with $-25^{\circ}C$ or 20%, respectively.
Vapor-liquid equilibrium calculation is required to properly design and operation of distillation process. The general calculation method is to use binary interaction parameter. Lower flash points of cyclohexanol+aniline and cyclohexanol+cyclohexanone were measured by using Seta-flash closed cup apparatus. The measured flash points were compared with those calculated by the method based on Raoult's law and the optimization method using Wilson equation. The absolute average errors(A.A.E.) of the results calculated by Raout's law are $0.25^{\circ}C$ and $1.07^{\circ}C$ for cyclohexanol+aniline and cyclohexanol+cyclohexanone, respectively. The absolute average errors of the results calculated by the optimization method are $0.22^{\circ}C$ and $0.65^{\circ}C$ for cyclohexanol+aniline and cyclohexanol+cyclohexanone, respectively. As can be seen from A.A.E., the calculated values based on the optimization method were found to be better than those based on the Raoult's law. The binary interaction parameters calculated by the optimization method are used to predict the dew points of cyclohexanol+aniline and cyclohexanol+cyclohexanone. The A.A.E. for these mixtures show that there is an acceptable agreement between experimental and calculated dew poins.
The flash point is one of the most important properties to characterize fire and explosion hazard of flammable liquid mixture. In this paper, the flash points of ternary liquid mixture, n-nonane+n-decane+n-tridecane system, were measured using Seta flash closed cup tester. The measured values were compared with the calculated values using Raoult's law and multiple regression analysis. The absolute average errors(AAE) of the results calculated by Raoult's law is $0.6^{\circ}C$. The absolute average errors of the results calculated by multiple regression analysis is $0.4^{\circ}C$. As can be seen from AAE, the calculated values based on multiple regresstion analysis were found to be better than those based on Raoult's law.
The water strider, Gerris paludum insularis, was reared in a growth cabinet at two constant temperatures and ${\approx}20^{\circ}C$ under a 16:8 (L:D) photoperiod. Differences in head width among three temperatures of ${\approx}20^{\circ}C,\;25^{\circ}C\;and\;30^{\circ}C$ in G. paludum insularis, were compared. Temperature affected growth of head width of G. paludum insularis. There were highly significant differences among head width for three temperature regimes and the immature stages. It was found that head width is greater in $30^{\circ}C$ than $25^{\circ}C\;and\;{\approx}20^{\circ}C$. The growth quantity of the head width in ${\approx}20^{\circ}C$ shows the slowest increase, and $25^{\circ}C\;and\;30^{\circ}C$ were gradually increased in that order. The maximum ratio of growth quantity by each stage is in the first instar in all regimes. The growth rates of all regimes show an increase pattern.

This study deals the prediction of temperature effect on low-frequency dispersion of alternating current (AC) conductivity spectra of composite materials based on copolymer reinforced with carbon black (CB) particles. A sample of ethylene butylacrylate loaded with 13% of CB particles were prepared and investigated using the impedance spectroscopy representation in the frequency range from 40 Hz to 0.1 MHz and temperature range from $20^{\circ}C$ to $125^{\circ}C$. The dielectric constant, ${\varepsilon}^{\prime}$, and dielectric losses, ${\varepsilon}^{{\prime}{\prime}}$, were found to decrease with increasing frequency. The frequency dependence of the AC conductivity follows the universal power law with a large deviation in the high frequency region, the positive temperature coefficient in resistivity effect has been observed below the melting temperature which makes this composite potentially remarkable for industrial applications.
The flash point is one of the most important properties for characterizing the fire and explosion hazard of liquid solutions. In this study, the flash points of two flammable binary mixtures, n-pentanol + n-propanol and n-pentanol + n-heptanol systems were measured using a Seta flash closed cup tester. The flash point was estimated using the methods based on Raoult's law and multiple regression analysis. The measured flash points were also compared with the predicted flash points. The absolute average errors (AAE) of the results calculated by Raout's law were $1.3^{\circ}C$ and $1.3^{\circ}C$ for the n-pentanol + n-propanol and n-pentanol + n-heptanol mixtures, respectively. The absolute average errors of the results calculated by multiple regression analysis were $0.4^{\circ}C$ and $0.3^{\circ}C$ for the n-pentanol + n-propanol and n-pentanol + n-heptanol mixtures, respectively. According to the AAE, the calculated values based on multiple regression analysis were better than those based on Raoult's law.
The scaling properties on the length distribution of microcrack populations from Tertiary crystalline tuff are investigated. From the distribution charts showing length range with 15 directional angles and five groups(I~V), a systematic variation appears in the mean length with microcrack orientation. The distribution charts are distinguished by the bilaterally symmetrical pattern to nearly N-S direction. The whole domain of the length-cumulative frequency diagram for microcrack populations can be divided into three sections in terms of phases of the distribution of related curves. Especially, the linear middle section of each diagram of five groups represents a power-law distribution. The frequency ratio of linear middle sections of five groups ranges from 46.6% to 67.8%. Meanwhile, the slope of linear middle section of each group shows the order: group V($N60{\sim}90^{\circ}E$, -2.02) > group IV($N20{\sim}60^{\circ}E$, -1.55) > group I($N60{\sim}90^{\circ}W$, -1.48), group II($N10{\sim}60^{\circ}W$, -1.48) > group III($N10^{\circ}W{\sim}N20^{\circ}E$, -1.06). Five sub-populations(five groups) that closely follow the power-law length distribution show a wide range in exponents( -1.06 - -2.02). These differences in exponent among live groups emphasizes the importance of orientation effect. In addition, breaks in slope in the lower parts of the related curves represent the abrupt development of longer lengths, which is reflected in the decrease in the power-law exponent. Especially, such a distribution pattern can be seen from the diagram with $N10{\sim}20^{\circ}E,\;N10{\sim}20^{\circ}W$ and $N60{\sim}70^{\circ}W$ directional angles. These three directional angles correspond with main directions of faults developed around the study area. The distribution chart showing the individual characteristics of the length-cumulative frequency diagrams for 15 directional angles were made. By arraying above diagrams according to the categories of three groups(A, B and C), the differences in length-frequency distributions among these groups can be easily derived. The distribution chart illustrates the importance of analysing microcrack sets separately. From the related chart, the occurrence frequency of shorter microcracks shows the order: group A > group B > group C. These three types of distribution patterns could reveal important information on the processes occurred during microcrack growth.
