  • Polyimide is widely used as a high-temperature insulating material. Space charge distributions in polyimide (PI) films strongly depend upon electric field, temperature, water content and so on. We observed space charge distributions in PI films with various water contents. When a dc field was applied to as-received PI films or water-treated PI films, positive and negative homo space charges were observed near the respective electrodes at 333 K. In dried PI films, the homo space charges were much reduced, and positive and negative hetero space charges in the bulk were clearly observed. The space charge amounts in water-treated PI films were smaller than in as-received ones, while the current density in water-treated PI film was larger than that in as-received one by two or more orders of magnitude. These suggest not only that the charge injection from the electrode is enhanced by absorbed water but also that absorbed water makes carriers mobile. The decay of space charge was also faster in water-treated PI than in as-received or dried one. This also supports the enhancement of apparent mobilities of carriers in PI by absorbed water.

  • This study examined the effect of current density on the surface morphology and physical properties of copper plated on a polyimide (PI) film. The morphology, crystal structure, and electric characteristics of the electrodeposited copper foil were examined by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and a four-point probe, respectively. The surface roughness, crystal growth orientation and resistivity was controlled using current density. Large particles were observed on the surface of the copper layer electroplated onto a current density of 25 mA/$cm^2$. However, a uniform surface and lower resistivity were obtained with a current density of 10 mA/$cm^2$. One of the important properties of FCCL is the flexibility of the copper foil. High flexibility of FCCL was obtained at a low current density rather than a high current density. Moreover, a reasonable current density is 20 mA/$cm^2$ considering the productivity and mechanical properties of copper foil.

  • Maxwell-Displacement-Currnt-Measuring Technique(MDCM) is a simple system for displacement current measuring which consist with two electrodes to the electrometer, With this method, the displacement current flow only when the electric flux density change by the displacement of molecules or charge particles of membrance on the water surface. Thus, It is Possible to detect dynamic behavior of molecules of membrane without any electrical contact with molecule membrane. In this paper, We measure surface pressure, displacement current and dipole moment of phospholipid monolayers on the wafer surface with applied pressure by MDCM and We measured DTA(differential thermal analysis).

  • The transient current of STN-LCD cells was measured and simulated to characterize ionic behavior in LCD cells. An experiment was performed to investigate the contribution of LC material and PI trapping effect to mobile ions in the LC layer. We observed that most of ions are trapped on the PI surface rather than stay in the LC layer in case of normal STN-LCD, and PI surface favors larger ions in general. A linear correlation of ion density and $V_50$ shift of the Transmission-Voltage (TV) curve between 30Hz and 1kHz at typical ion mobility was found.

  • A BLDC motor with higher number of phases has several advantages, compared to the conventional three-phase BLDC motors. It can reduce the commutation torque ripple and the iron loss without increasing the voltage per phase and increase the reliability and power density. Higher number of phases increase the torque-per-ampere ratio for the same machine volume and output power by widening the electrical conduction period. In this paper, the proposed seven-phase BLDC motor drive system is made into several functional modular blocks, so that it can be easily extended to other ac motor applications: back-EMF block, hysteresis current control block, pwm inverter block, phase current block, and speed/torque control block. Also in a system of BLDC motor drive, the PI controller has been widely used in the speed controller because of the simple implementation. To obtain a good speed response in a general drive system using the PI controller, the high bandwidth of a controller is established. therefore, in this paper, a Fuzzy controller is applied to the 7-phase BLDC motor drive system in order to improve the speed control performance. The Fuzzy controller is compared with a conventional PI controller through the experiment with respect to speed dynamic responses. These experimental results show that the Fuzzy controller of the 7-phase BLDC motor drive system is superior over the conventional PI controller. The algorithm using the Fuzzy controller can improve a comfortable ride in the field of high performance 7-phase BLDC motor drive applications.

  • The B-fields in Star-forming Region Observations (BISTRO) is a large program of the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) to study the roles of magnetic fields in molecular clouds on intermediate scales (a few thousands au or larger scales), in which a large number of researchers over the world are involved. This project was initiated in 2016 with polarimetric observations of nearby star-forming regions and has been extended toward massive and farther regions (BISTRO-2) and various evolutionary stages and environmental conditions (BISTRO-3). The current status of the BISTRO projects is reported. In addition, we discuss magnetic fields in the Serpens Main molecular cloud, which is one of the BISTRO star-forming regions. Utilizing the Histogram of Relative Orientations method, which compares polarization directions with density gradients, we show that magnetic fields are parallel to filaments in less dense filamentary structures but perpendicular to dense ones. Furthermore, the magnetic field directions with respect to density gradients vary again with density in denser core regions, which is understood by core formation and pinched fields. Note: (PI) D. • We have theoretically investigated the magnetic properties of N-confused porphyrin (NCP), tetraphenyl-N-confused porphyrin (TPNCP) and their substituted derivatives with O, S and Se heteroatoms (2ONCP, 2STPNCP, 2SeNCP, 2OTPNCP, etc.) by using DFT method. In the minimum energy structures of the 2OTPNCP, the two couples opposite phenyl substitutes are staggered. In the case of TPNCP, 2STPNCP and 2SeTPNCP, two phenyls being respectively close to or opposite to N-confused pyrrole are found to be pointed the same direction, whilst others are in the opposite direction. Based on the equilibrium structures, the $^1H$ chemical shifts and nucleus-independent chemical shifts (NICS) are calculated in this paper. The ${\pi}$ current density being induced by the tridimensional perpendicular magnetic field transmits the inner section of the pyrrole segments for NCP and TPNCP. As for their substituted derivatives with O, S and Se atoms, the current path passes through the outer section of the two heterorings. The NICS values at the ring critical points of the heterorings are much lower (in absolute value) than those of which is at the center of an isolated pyrrole molecule. The $^1H$ NMR for ${\beta}H$ atoms of the heterorings decreases from O, S to with Se.

  • To determine the economic threshold level of Meloidogyne incognita on cucumber in greenhouse conditions, cucumber seedlings(Cucumis sativa L. cv. 'Super Manchon') grafted on 'Jangsushintozoa'(Cucurbita maxima x Cu. moschata) were planted in wooden boxes($30{\times}40{\times}15cm,\;L{\times}W{\times}D$) under a plastic house in August 01 and harvested from Sep. 01-Oct. 30, 2006. The initial nematode population densities(Pi) in the wooden boxes were adjusted to 0, 10, 30, 100, 300, and 600 second-stage juveniles(J2)/100 $cm^3$ soil. The relationship of total fruit yield to Pi level could be adequately described by a linear regression equation, $Y=0.82-0.04{\cdot}Log_{10}$(Pi+1). Initial nematode densities(Pi) before planting in excess of 5 J2/1,000 $cm^3$ soil caused in total yields loss that is equivalent to the costs of granular nematicide application; Pi level in excess of 25 J2/1,000 $cm^3$ soil caused in total yields loss that exceed the costs for application of fumigants at current control costs. We propose two different management strategies depending on nematode densities, (i) application of non-fumigant granular nematicides for M. incognita Pi level of 5 J2/1,000 $cm^3$ soil and (ii) fumigant treatment with Pi level over 25 J2/1,000 $cm^3$ soil. Soil samples to determine population density of Meloidogyne spp. for advisory purposes should be taken several months before planting time, which allows a period of time enough for implementing management procedures.
