New formation technique of metal oxide sensing film was proposed m this paper. Silicon wafer with Pt electrodes was used as a substrate for depositing metal Sn film. Metal Sn was deposited in the state of not continuous film but only island state. The samples were prepared to obtain the optimal condition of metal Sn deposition. The resistances of deposited Sn onto Pt electrodes amounted to $1\;k{\Omega}$, $5\;k{\Omega}$, $10\;k{\Omega}$ and $50\;k{\Omega}$, respectively. Also The sample with $1,500\;{\AA}$ thickness of Sn was prepared m order to compare sensing properties between conventional type and proposing type. After deposition of metal Sn, $SnO_2$ was formed by thermal oxidation method for 3 hrs. in $O_2$ ambient at $700^{\circ}C$. Surface morphology, crystal structure and surface roughness of oxidized-sensing film were examined by SEM, XRD, and AFM, respectively. From the results of these analyses, the optimal deposition condition of Sn was that the Pt electrode resistance became $10\;k{\Omega}(300\;{\AA})$. Also, the sensing characteristics of fabricated sensing film for various concentrations of butane, propane and carbon monoxide gases were measured at he operating temperatures of $250^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$ and $350^{\circ}C$, respectively. Although catalyst as not added to the sensing film, it has exhibited the high sensitivity to all the test gases.

In order to investigate the oceanic condition of fishing ground in the adjacent sea of Naro Island, the oceanographic observation were carried out by the training vessel of Yosu National University on winter, spring, summer, and autumn in 2000. Main features in the observation are as follows; 1) the ranges of temperature, salinity, and chlorophyll-a were from 4.$3\circ_C$ to 10.$1\circ_C$, from 33.1 psu to 34.9 psu, and from 0.1 $ug$/$\Omega$ to 26.2 $ug$/$\Omega$ in winter, from 8.$1\circ_C$ to 13.$7\circ_C$, from 33.1 psu to 34.3 psu, and from 0.1 $ug$/$\Omega$ to 24.4 $ug$/$\Omega$ in spring, from 14.$5\circ_C$ to 24.$2\circ_C$, from 30.5 psu to 34.1 psu, and from 0.1 $ug$/$\Omega$ to 30.0 $ug$/$\Omega$ in summer, and from 14.$8\circ_C$ to 18.$6\circ_C$, from 30.1 psu to 34.0 psu, and from 0.1 $ug$/$\Omega$ to 19.1 $ug$/$\Omega$ in autumn, respectively, 2) the temperature in the coastal region was higher than that in the open ocean while salinity was lower, and the convection was identified between the surface and the bottom during in winter and autumn, and the thermocline were made between surface and 20m layer with vertical gradients of 4.$0\circ_C$/7m in summer, 3) the chlorophyll-a in the this region was varied in each season, being highly distributed in spring, on bottom and coastal region, and 4) an evidence of sea water intrusion toward Sori Island was observed, and of inner water intrusion from Yeoja Bay was observed.

Seasonal variation in fatty acid profiles was examined in the visceral mass and the posterior adductor muscle of the female pen shell, Atrina pectinata. Total percentages of saturated fatty acids were similar between the two organs, and there was not a prominent seasonal change in both tissues. While the percentages of highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFAs) in the visceral mass were higher than those in the posterior adductor muscle, monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) were high in the posterior adductor muscle. HUFA contents, especially in $20: 5\omega3$, $22: 5\omega3$ and $22: 6\omega3$, markedly decreased in September in the visceral mass, and this decrease was associated with a corresponding total MUFAs in the same organ. A similar pattern of change in September was noted in the posterior adductor muscle MUFAs and HUFAs. These results indicate that $20:\omega3$ and $22:\omega3$ HUFA changes in the visceral mass and posterior adductor muscle reflect the reproductive stages in pen shell.

Omega-3 fatty acids, including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), are polyunsaturated fatty acids beneficial to human health. A limited number of microalgae have been used for commercial omega-3 production, which necessitates the identification of new microalgae with high omega-3 contents. We explored the fatty acid composition and EPA and DHA contents of the mixotrophic dinoflagellate Gymnodinium smaydae fed with the optimal algal prey species Heterocapsa rotundata. Cells of G. smaydae were found to be rich in omega-3 fatty acids. In particular, the DHA content of G. smaydae was 21 mg g-1 dry weight, accounting for 43% of the total fatty acid content. The percentage of DHA in the total fatty acid content of G. smaydae was the highest among the reported microalgae except for Crypthecodinium cohnii. Moreover, to determine if the prey supply interval affected the growth rate of G. smaydae and its fatty acid content, three different prey supply intervals (daily, once every 2 d, and once for 4 d) were tested. Daily prey supply yielded the highest total fatty acid and DHA contents in G. smaydae. Furthermore, we successfully produced high-density G. smaydae cultures semi-continuously for 43 d with daily prey supply. During the semi-continuous cultivation period, the highest density of G. smaydae was 57,000 cells mL-1, with an average growth rate of 0.7 d-1. Taken together, the percentage of EPA and DHA in the total fatty acid content was maintained in the range of 54.2-56.9%. The results of this study support G. smaydae as a promising microalgal candidate for commercial DHA production and demonstrate that daily supply of prey can efficiently produce high-density G. smaydae cultures for more than a month.
The lipids of ten major fishes caught in Korean seas were analyzed for fatty acid composition and for the content of $\omega-3$ polyunsaturated fatty acids. The major fatty acids present were hexadecanoic acid $(14{\sim}24%)$, hexadecenoic acid $(4{\sim}13%)$, octadecenoic acid $(8{\sim}29%)$, eicospentaenoic acid $(4{\sim}18%)$ and docosahexenoic acid $(6{\sim}33%)$. The ${\omega}-3$ polyunsturated fatty acids ranged from 18% to 48% of the total fatty acids depending on the species. The content of eicosapentaenoic acid was relatively high in sardine, gizzard shad and atka fish on the basic of fresh body weight, while that of docosahexaenoic acid was highest in hair tail and followed by atka fish and sardine.
Previous studies have suggested that omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, predominantly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), have several health benefits. However, their effect on changes in skeletal muscle mass and strength has not been established, owing to differences in study designs. This systematic review aimed to investigate the recent evidence regarding the role of dietary EPA and DHA in muscle mass changes and their association with muscle strength. Databases including PubMed and Google Scholar were searched for randomized controlled trials and single-arm interventions that investigated the effects of omega-3 fatty acids on skeletal muscle mass, strength, and body composition in adults aged 18 years and older. A total of 18,521 studies were retrieved from the databases and manual searches; 21 studies were quality assessed, and the findings were summarized. Studies were categorized into 3 main categories according to the type of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation: pure compounds such as oil tablets, formulated forms with protein, leucine, and vitamin D, and ingredients added to enteral nutrition support products. Overall, the majority of the study results appeared to indicate that omega-3 fatty acids are beneficial for muscle health. However, meta-analysis was not conducted because of the heterogeneity of the study participants, evaluation method of muscle indices, and intervention periods among the studies. High-quality studies are required to validate our conclusions. However, this systematic review of the effects of EPA and DHA on skeletal muscle and body composition provides evidence that can be applied in both clinical and industrial settings.

All these biologically active products will be very beneficial and useful for human consumption when limitations of manufacturing technology such as safety and lowered sensory qualities are resolved. Furthermore, thorough and precise tests and quality control for these products should be performed to ensure the effectiveness and usefulness in terms of improving health and nutritional status in general. However one caution should be pointed out to lay people informing that these items are nothing but a food and not panacea. Therefore, it is important to remember that the only way of maintaining good health is absolutely through consuming balanced diet.

Maize which has very high omega-6 fatty acid content has been used as a main feed grain for Hanwoo beef production to increase marbling, and thus omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids ratio in Hanwoo beef is expected to be biased. To elucidate the current status of omega fatty acids ratio in Hanwoo beef, fatty acid profiles of neutral lipid and phospholipid fraction were analyzed separately using 55 Hanwoo steers' longissimus dorsi muscle slaughtered at Pyeongchang, Korea from Oct. to Nov. 2015. In addition, an association study was conducted to evaluate associations between single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers from references and omega fatty acid profiles in phospholipid of Hanwoo beef samples using analysis of variance (ANOVA). In neutral lipid fraction, composition of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids was higher and polyunsaturated fatty acids was lower compared to those in phospholipid fraction. The mean n-6/n-3 ratios of Hanwoo were $56.059{\pm}16.180$ and $26.811{\pm}6.668$ in phospholipid and neutral lipid, respectively. There were three SNPs showing statistically significant associations with omega fatty acid content. GA type of rs41919985 in fatty acid synthase (FASN) was significantly associated with the highest amount of C20:5 n-3 (p = 0.031). CC type of rs41729173 in fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4) was significantly associated with the lowest amount of C22:2n-6 (p = 0.047). AG type of rs42187261 in FADS1 was significantly linked to the lowest concentration of C20:4 n-6 (p = 0.044). The total n-6/n-3 ratio of the steer which has all four SNP types in above loci (27.905) was much lower than the mean value of the total n-6/n-3 ratio in phospholipid of the 55 Hanwoo steers ($56.059{\pm}16.180$). It was found that phospholipid and neutral lipid of Hanwoo have very high n-6/n-3 ratios compared to the reported data from different cow breeds. Four SNPs in genes related with fatty acid metabolism showed significant associations with the fatty acid profile of phospholipid and may have potential as SNP markers to select Hanwoo steers in terms of n-6/n-3 balance in the future.
Two commercial carbon plates were evaluated as a current collector (bipolar plate) in the all vanadium redox-flow battery (V-RFB). The performance properties of V-RFB were test in the current density of $60mA/cm^2$. The electromotive forces (OCV at SOC 100%) of V-RFB using A and B current collector were 1.47 V and 1.54 V. The cell resistance of V-RFB using A current collector was $4.44{\sim}5.00{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ and $3.28{\sim}3.75{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ for charge and discharge, respectively. The cell resistance of V-RFB using B current collector was $4.19{\sim}4.42{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ and $4.71{\sim}5.49{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ for charge and discharge, respectively. The performance of V-RFB using each current collector was evaluated. The performance of V-RFB using A current collector was 93.1%, 76.8% and 71.4% for average current efficiency, average voltage efficiency and average energy efficiency, respectively. The performance of V-RFB using B current collector was 96.4%, 73.6% and 71.0% for average current efficiency, average voltage efficiency and average energy efficiency, respectively.

The installation of grounding systems is important for the safe operation of power systems, and the soil resistivity is an important design consideration for such systems. It varies markedly with the soil type, moisture content and temperature. The Jeju geological structure is formed in a multi-layered structure characteristic of volcanic areas and, and the geological ground resistance values can appear even constructed the same areas ground system different from the soil structure. In this study, a mock-up system using representative soil from Jeju was constructed to analyze the variation of the grounding resistance. The mock-up system was configured using the Gauss-Newton algorithm inversion method to analyze the model numerically using the Wenner method through the soil resistivity measurements used to create the ground model. Also, we analyzed the change in the general ground resistance characteristics of the copper rod, copper pipe, and carbon rod that are used for grounding. The variation of the grounding resistance with the hydration status was found to be $2.9[{\Omega}]$, $16.5[{\Omega}]$ and $20.1[{\Omega}]$ for the copper rod, copper pipes, and carbon rod, respectively, and the influence of the ground moisture resistance of the carbon rod was found to be the lowest with a value of $141[{\Omega}]$.
