  • Specific structural properties of Li intercalation reaction into the spinel relatedmanganese dioxide, $Li_{x}Mn_{2}O_{4}(0.2{\leq}x{\leq}2.0)$, are investigated by X-ray diffractional and electrochemical studies of Li/1M $LiClO_{4}$-propylene carbonate solution/$Li_{x}Mn_{2}O_{4}$ cell. The effect of the chemical composition and the reaction temperature on electrochemical parameter of $Li_{x}Mn_{2}O_{4}$ are studied by the phenomena of phase-transition, analysis of crystal lattice, fine structure, and thermal analysis. Treatment of the spinel $Li_{x}Mn_{2}O_{4}$ with aqueous acid was found to result in conversiton of $Li_{x}Mn_{2}O_{4}$ to nearly pure $MnO_{2}$, as evidenced by a reduction in the lattice constant $a_{c}$ from 8.255 to $8.031\;{\AA}$. At a composition range of $0.2{\leq}x{\leq}0.6$ in $Li_{x}Mn_{2}O_{4}$ the reduction proceeded in a homogeneous phase, which was characterized by a constant voltage of 3.9~3.7 V together with a lattice constant of $8.255\;{\AA}$.

  • To enhance the electron injection from the cathode of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), We have studied characteristics of device that electron injection layer(EIL) is inserted between emissive layer and cathode. We fabricated bi-layer cathode $Li_2O$(x nm)/Al(100nm) and LiF(x nm)/Al(100nm) using LiF and $Li_2O$ as an electron injection layer. We analyzed the current efficiency, luminance efficiency, and external quantum efficiency of the device by varying the thickness of $Li_2O$ and LiF to be 0.5nm, 1nm, or 3nm. Using the EIL, we have obtained the efficiency of 7cd/A and the luminance of $20,000cd/m^2$. There is an improvement of efficiency by more than 3 times than the device without the $Li_2O$ layer.

  • The thermal annealing, reusability and fading characteristics of the highly sensitive LiF:Mg,Cu,P TLDs are investigated. Thermoluminescent sensitivity of the fabricated LiF:Mg,Cu,P TLD is 25.3 times higher than the commercial dosimeter TLD-700(Harshaw Chemical Co.). The main dosimetric peak shows no fading for 1 month at room temperature and 50% for 7 days at $100^{\circ}C$. The thermal annealing characteristics is examined in the temperature range from $260^{\circ}C$ to $320^{\circ}C$. For annealing the TLD at $280^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes, TLDs can be reusable by recovering the initial sensitivity.

  • In this study, NASICON-type Li1+XGaXTi2-X(PO4)3 (x = 0.1, 0.3 and 0.4) solid-state electrolytes for all-solid-state batteries were synthesized through the sol-gel method. In addition, the influence on the ion conductivity of solid-state electrolytes when partially substituted for Ti4+ (0.61Å) site to Ga3+ (0.62Å) of trivalent cations was investigated. The obtained precursor was heat treated at 450 ℃, and a single crystalline phase of Li1+XGaXTi2-X(PO4)3 systems was obtained at a calcination temperature above 650 ℃. Additionally, the calcinated powders were pelletized and sintered at temperatures from 800 ℃ to 1,000 ℃ at 100 ℃ intervals. The synthesized powder and sintered bodies of Li1+XGaXTi2-X(PO4)3 were characterized using TG-DTA, XRD, XPS and FE-SEM. The ionic conduction properties as solid-state electrolytes were investigated by AC impedance. As a result, Li1+XGaXTi2-X(PO4)3 was successfully produced in all cases. However, a GaPO4 impurity was formed due to the high sintering temperatures and high Ga content. The crystallinity of Li1+XGaXTi2-X(PO4)3 increased with the sintering temperature as evidenced by FE-SEM observations, which demonstrated that the edges of the larger cube-shaped grains become sharper with increases in the sintering temperature. In samples with high sintering temperatures at 1,000 ℃ and high Ga content above 0.3, coarsening of grains occurred. This resulted in the formation of many grain boundaries, leading to low sinterability. These two factors, the impurity and grain boundary, have an enormous impact on the properties of Li1+XGaXTi2-X(PO4)3. The Li1.3Ga0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3 pellet sintered at 900 ℃ was denser than those sintered at other conditions, showing the highest total ion conductivity of 7.66 × 10-5 S/cm at room temperature. The total activation energy of Li-ion transport for the Li1.3Ga0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3 solid-state electrolyte was estimated to be as low as 0.36 eV. Although the Li1+XGaXTi2-X(PO4)3 sintered at 1,000 ℃ had a relatively high apparent density, it had less total ionic conductivity due to an increase in the grain-boundary resistance with coarse grains.

  • The TSDC(Thermally Stimulated Depolarization Current) measurement were carried out in the temperature range $30{\sim}500^{\circ}C$. We observed the anomalous two peaks that have a thousand times longer relaxation time than that of the space charge. It seems that the origin of the two peak are due to the electron trapping effect and to the adsorption of the vacancies at silver electrode.

  • The line shape functions for the Doppler-broadened gamma ray spectrum are considered in the $^{10}B(n,{\alpha}{\gamma})^7Li$ reaction occurring in a surrounding medium where the excited $^7Li$ nucleus is slowed down and stopped before decay. The phenomenological form of the stopping power was used for the broadening effect. Convolution with the detailed response of a germanium detector is taken into consideration for the simplest case of solely electronic stopping. A numerical study for the analysis of $^{10}B$ by thermal neutron capture is conducted by performing a parametric search and fitting the measured spectrum in a least-squares approach. In comparison with the previous numerical approach using the same analysis, the computational speed is increased and reliable information concerning the stopping power of the medium is obtained while estimating the uncertainty. Implementation of the routine analysis of $^{10}B$ is facilitated on a recent version of the gamma ray spectrum analysis package HyperGam.

  • Sintering, microstructure, thermal conductivity and microwave dielectric properties of xLiF-(1-x)MgO ceramics (x=0.03~0.10 mol) were investigated. The high density was obtained in the specimens of $x{\geq}0.06$, i.e., 0.04 LiF-0.96 MgO in mol, whereas the amount of 0.03 mol LiF was insufficient to densify. From the result that the contact flattening in the sintered specimen was observed, the densification occurred through the liquid-phase sintering. The specimen of x=0.06 showed the highest room-temperature thermal conductivity. Relative density, thermal conductivity, dielectric constant, and quality factor ($Q{\times}f$) of the specimen for x=0.06 sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ for 4 h were 97.8%, $39.2Wm^{-1}K^{-1}$, 9.45, and 14,671 GHz, respectively.
