Dynamic Pyroelectric Properties and Their Frequency Dependences of $LiTaO_3$ crystal ($LiTaO_3$crystal Dynamic 초전 특성과 그 주파수 의존성)

  • In this paper, we have investigated the pyroelectric characteristics of the $20\mu\textrm{m}-thick$ $LiTaO_3$ single crystal with black coating by using the nondestructive dynamic method. The $LiTaO_3shows$ the maximum pyroelectric coefficient (${\gamma}$) of $1.56$\times$10-8C/\textrm{cm}^2K$ at 40Hz and the responsivity (Rv) is 488V/W at 2Hz. The noise equivalent power (NEP) is obtained as 3.95$\times$10-10W/√Hz at 40Hz. The detectivity (D*) is obtained divided by the sample area and estimated to be 5.6$\times$108cm√Hz/W at 40Hz. These results, shows that the $LiTaO_3$ single crystals are the best candidates to pyroelectric IR sensors.

  • Spinel LiMn2O4 catalyst with submicron and single phase particles was synthesized at 48$0^{\circ}C$ for 12 hr in air by a sol-gel method. The spinel LiMn2O4 was deoxidized by hydrogen at various temperatures. Effects of physiochemical properties of the catalyst reduced by hydrogen were examined with X-ray diffractometer, thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscope. The decomposition rate of carbon dioxide was measrued using the catalyst deosidized at 35$0^{\circ}C$.

  • The intercalation chemistry of graphite presents an attractive route to obtain few-layered graphene platelets based on the expanded interlayer spacing. We report that the lithium can be intercalated into the graphite in a controllable manner by adjusting the variables such as temperature, pressure, and reaction time. From the X-ray diffraction experiments, the lithium-graphite intercalaltion compounds (Li-GICs) can be produced as the first stage compounds ($LiC_6$), the second-stage compounds ($LiC_{12}$), and the mixtures, which is most likely to be dependent on the temperature and reaction time. Since these Li-GICs are expected to facilitate the exfoliation of graphite, we investigated the feasibility of Li-GICs as a effective precursors for the generation of single-or few-layered graphite nano-platelets.

  • Zr이 0.03wt%함유된 Mg-8.14Li-3.93AI 합금의 시효거동을 미소경도와 미세조직의 변화, 열분석 등으로 조사하였다. Zr의 첨가로 인하여 3원계 Mg-8.23Li-4.02A에 비하여 조직이 미세화되었으며 모든 시효조건에서 경도값이 높게 나타났다. 열분석결과 발열피크는 준안정 석출상인 MgLi2AI($\theta$)의 석출과 $\theta$상에서 안정상인 AILi으로의 변화와 관련된 것이고, 흡열피크는 $\theta$와 AILi상의 재용해에 대응되는 것으로 판단되었다. 피크 경도값(103Hv)은 $\theta$의 석출이 완료되는 393K에서 0.5시간 시효시 나타났으며 피크 경도조건에서의 미세조건은 $\beta$기지에 $\theta$와 AILi상이 공존하고 있음을 투과식 전자현미경으로 확인하였다.

  • 지형의 표고값물 격자간격으로 표현하는 수치표고모델(DEM)은 지형분석을 위한 GIS데이터 활용과 휴대전화 중계안테나의 영향권 분석, 정밀지오이드 계산을 위한 지형효과계산 등 여러 가지 분야에 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이렇게 활용성이 증가하고 있는 수치표고모델을 수집하고 또 진주시 지역을 대상으로 LiDAR촬영을 통한 LiDAR 수치표고모델을 구축하여 그 정확도를 분석하고자 하였다. 연구에 활용된 수치표고모델은 GTOPO30, SRTM-3, 지형도(1/50,000) 독취 DEM, 환경부 DEM, 항공사진에 의해 생성된 DEM, 그리고 LiDAR DEM의 6가지이며, 정확도 분석을 위해 GPS측량과 수준측량이 동시에 실시된 409점의 진주시 3차원 도시기준점 성과를 이용하였다.

  • Solubilities (LiBr+$CaC1_2$) in water were measured at temperatures form 267.51 to 306.17K for $CaC1_2$ (LiBr+$CaC1_2$)=0.24 by mole. Experimental data were correlated with polynomial equations. Average absolute deviations between the measured and calculated values were 0.31% at concentration smaller than 60wt% and 0.41% at concentration larger than 60wt%, respectively. Vapor pressures were measured at temperatures from 296.75 to 436.75K and concentrations from 40 to 70wt%. Vapor pressure data were fitted to a Antoine-type equation and average absolute deviation was 2.98%. The P-T-X chart and H-T-X chart of $H_2O$/(LiBr+$CaC1_2$) system were constructed by using the correlation equations of solubility, vaper pressure, and heat capacity. The P-T-X chart indicates that $H_2O$/(LiBr+$CaC1_2$) system has potential as a possible working fluid for air-cooled absorption chillers.

A Study on the Electrochemical Properties of LiNi0.8Co0.2-xMxO2[M=Al] Cathode Materials Prepared by Sol-Gel Method (졸-겔법에 의해 제조된 정극 활물질 LiNi0.8Co0.2-xMxO2[M=Al]의 전기화학적 특성)

  • The $LiN_{0.8}Co_{0.2}O_2$ has shown outstanding electrochemical properties. The microstructure of $LiN_{0.8}Co_{0.2}O_2$ cathode was investigated by using TEM (transmission electron microscopy) and X-ray diffraction techniques. The $LiN_{0.8}Co_{0.2}O_2$ was produced by sol-gel method to synthesize fine particles less than $1{\mu}m$ in the average diameter. In this study, emphasis was given to the examination and interpretation of the microstructural change during charge-discharge cycling experiments, which appeared to be one of the main causes of early degradation of rechargeable batteries. Results showed that the $1{\mu}m$ cathode produced by sol-gel method had high reversible capacity and excellent cycling stability due to its homogeneous distribution of Ni and Co cations on u atomic scale. In particular, the $1{\mu}m$ cathode did not show severe strain induced structural defects or cubic spinel disordering during cycling experiments, which had been observed in the conventional $LiCoO_2$ cathode. The $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.2-x}M_x[M=Al]$ compounds show good reversibility but low discharge capacity.

A Study on the Removal of Sulfate in Li2CO3 by Recrystallization (재결정화법을 이용한 탄산리튬 내 황산이온 제거에 관한 연구)

  • In order to remove sulfate(SO42-) and purify the Li2CO3, dissolution and recrystallization of crude Li2CO3 using distilled water and HCl solution was performed. When Li2CO3 was dissolved using distilled water, the amount of dissolved Li2CO3(wt.%) increased as the solution temperature decrease and showed about 1.50 wt.% at 2.5℃. In addition, when Na2CO3 was added and the Li2CO3 solution was recrystallized, the recrystallization(%) increased with increasing temperature, resulting in a 49.00 % at 95 ℃. On the other hand, when Li2CO3 was dissolved using HCl solution, there was no effect of reaction temperature. As the concentration of HCl solution increased, the amount of dissolved Li2CO3(wt.%) increased, indicating 7.10 wt.% in 2.0 M HCl solution. When the LiCl solution was recrystallized by adding Na2CO3, it exhibited a recrystallization(%) of 86.10 % at a reaction temperature of 70 ℃, and showed a sulfate ion removal(%) of 96.50 % or more. Finally, more than 99.10 % of Na and more than 99.90 % of sulfate were removed from the recrystallized Li2CO3 powder through water washing, and purified Li2CO3 with a purity of 99.10 % could be recovered.

THE THICKNESS OF SOFT-TISSUE BASED ON BODY MASS INDEX AND POSTOPERATIVE CHANGE IN PROGNATHIC PATIENTS (골격성 III급 부정교합자의 체질량지수에 따른 술후 연조직 변화)

  • This study has been carried out in order to measure the thickness of soft-tissue on lateral cephalographs based on body mass index(BMI) and the change in soft-tissue thickness after surgical correction of mandibular protrusion. The control material in cephalometric study comprised students at The Dental College, 38 persons, aged 21~24 years and the patient material comprised 20 women and 12men, aged 19~28 years with mandibular protrusion.The thickness of the soft-tissue based on BMI in control and study groups, the comparison between them, immediate postoperative change in the thickness, 6 months after surgery, ratio of soft-tissue response and correlation was established through various statistical methods. The result were as follows : 1. The groups based on BMI showed significant differences each other as regards the linear measurements. The thickest soft-tissue was measured 13.6mm, 15.47mm, 16.76mm at Ss, the thinnest at G' 6.0mm, 6.7mm, 7.26mm respectively. 2. The differences between control and experimental groups based on BMI showed to be significant. There were no differences at G'. The soft-tissue in prognathic patients was thicker at Ss, Ls and thinner at Li, Ls, Pg', Gn', Me'. Differential gap was greater in overweight groups. 3. The immediate soft-tissue change after surgery showed the increase at Li, Ls, Pg', Gn', Me' except G', Ls in all groups. 4. The postoperative soft-tissue change 6 months after surgery was similar with immediate change. The soft-tissue shows the increase in the thickness at Li, Pg', Gn', Me' and the greatest difference occurred at Li, 1.1mm, 0.98mm, 1.2mm respectively. 5. The patients with lower BMI index showed higher soft-tissue response to bony movement at Pg'. The immediate response ratio was 91%, 87%, 81% in A,B,C groups respectively, the response 6 months after surgery showed 96%, 91%, 84%.

Hyperthermia Promotes Apoptosis and Suppresses Invasion in C6 Rat Glioma Cells

  • Gliomas are a group of heterogeneous primary central nervous system tumors. Hyperthermia has proven to be a potential therapeutic tool for cancers in the clinic. However, the molecular mechanisms of hyperthermia remain unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of hyperthermia on the invasiveness in C6 glioma cells and related molecular pathways. Here our data show hyperthermia stimulated the release of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-${\alpha}$) and decreased C6 glioma cell migration and invasive capability at 30, 60, 120 and 180 min; with increased spontaneous apoptosis in C6 glioma cells at 120 min. We also found mitogen-activated protein kinase (P38 MAPK) protein expression to be increased and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-${\kappa}B$) protein expression decreased. Based on the results, we conclude that hyperthermia alone reduced invasion of C6 glioma cells through stimulating TNF-${\alpha}$ signaling to activate apoptosis, enhancing P38 MAPK expression and inhibiting the NF-${\kappa}B$ pathway, a first report in C6 rat glioma cells.
