  • In this paper, we constructed an array of speaker system with directivity by using FXLMS(Filtered-X LMS) algorithm and confirmed its directivity. The front $0^{\circ}$ characteristics of the controlled speaker was suppressed by interfering it with the control signal produced with filter coefficients optimized with respect to the $180^{\circ}$ characteristics of the rear speakers. The directivity of the array of rear speakers was measured and the damping effect of the signal from the front speaker array was confirmed. The frequency characteristics and directivity was investigated by using the adaptive filter coefficients on damping, the damping on the control point was verified in all the frequency range. In 100Hz, 200Hz, 1000Hz regime, the damping effect was observed in the range of front $60^{\circ}{\sim}100^{\circ}$.

  • The antioxidants activities in water and 95% ethanol extracts of wa-song (Orostachys japonicus A. Berger) dried by sun, hot air and lyophilization were measured in vitro reaction system. In reaction system containing linoleic acid, the antioxidant activities against lipid oxidation enhanced in proportion to storage time. The antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts was higher than that of water extracts. In the drying methods, wa-song extracts showed higher antioxidant activity in the other of hot air-dried, lyophilized and sun-dried. The lipid oxidation system containing the promoting factors, such as $Fe^{+2}$ and $Cu^{+2}$ions, also showed that the ethanol extract of hot air-dried wa-song possessed the highest antioxidant activity. Soybean oil and lard being added with various levels (0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 g/100 g) of the ethanol extract of hot air-dried wa-song were stored at $60^{\circ}C$ (for 28 days) or $180^{\circ}C$ (for 48 hr). Its extract appeared to lower the acid value of soybean oil, wheras it failed to lower the acid value for lard at early storage time, but it was lower than control and BHT after 28 days. Anicidine value and peroxide value were lower soybean and lard added wa-song extract than control and BHT for storage for 28 days at $60^{\circ}C$. In 28 days, its value was significantly decreased in proportion to sample concentration. TBA value was increased during storage time at $60^{\circ}C$, but it was significantly decreased by sample concentration after storage 36 hours at $180^{\circ}C$ storage. Therefore results suggest ethanol extract of hot air-dried wa-song could be potential candidates for natural antioxidants for materials containing lipid.

  • Kerr microscopy was assembled to observe magnetic domain image of ultra thin 3 %Si-Fe by using parts of an optical microscope. Digital images were obtained from CCD camera attached to the microscopy. A method was suggested to decide a boundary between magnetic domain regions in this study. The method was using some operations such as subtraction, integration and least mean square approximation for pixel values in the digital image. The method has a strong point that high priced image processor is not needed in the Kerr microscopy system. From the results that three different domain walls were observed and magnetic flux density of 0.085 [T], this method could be applied in the magnetic domain regions having a straight $180^{\circ}$ domain wall.

  • The anticancer effect of the bark of Broussonetia kazinoki root extracts (hexane. chloroform, ethylacetate, butanol, aqueous) were studied. The cytotoxicity by MTT assay and inhibitory effect on the growth of sarcoma 180 cells were tested in vitro. The reduction rate of the tumor formation and spleen/body weight rate on BALB/c mouse were tested in vivo. From the tests, each fraction showed the cytotoxic effect against the sarcoma 180 cells. In addition, as the concentration of the fractions increased, cytotoxic effect tendency increased as well. The cytotoxic rate of the hexane, chloroform, ethylacetate, butanol and aqueous fractions showed by 58.7%, 40.1%, 75.7%, 52.6% and 62.7% respectively after testing by MTT assay system. And sarcoma 180 cells were incubated for 6 days at 37$^{\circ}C$ with various concentrations of each fraction. As the incubation days go on, the number of cells increased, while the inhibition rate on the growth of sarcoma 180 cells were decreased. Especially the ethylacetate fraction at the concentration of 1.0 mg/ml strongly inhibited the growth of sarcoma 180 cells by 74% compared with the control for a day 37$^{\circ}C$ The hexane, chloroform, ethylacetate, butanol and aqueous fractions inhibited on the growth of sarcoma 180 cells by 31%, 19%, 60%, 30% and 42% respectively, when sarcoma 180 cells has been incubated for 6 days at 37$^{\circ}C$. The each fraction exhibited the antitumor effect in vivo. The ethylacetate fraction reduced the tumor formation by 41% compared with the control, when sarcoma 180 cells were injected subcutaneously into the left groin of BALB/c mice. Also spleen/body weight rate of ethylacetate fraction was increased by 2.10% compared with the control (1.08%). And it is considered that there would be no toxic effect caused by each fraction of body weight and organ as there was on more changes in mouse' weight compared with the control.

  • To investigate the optimal conditions for biodegradation of toluene by Pseudomonas fluorescens KCTC 1767 in a batch soil-bioreactor, the effects of rpm change from 60 to 180, and temperature change from $15^{\circ}C$ to $30^{\circ}C$ in a batch culture and the flow rate change from 55 mL/min to 85 mL/Min in soil-bioreactor on the biodegradation of toluene were studied. In a batch culture the optimal operating conditons were 60 rpm, and $30^{\circ}C$ at initial pH 7, In a soil-bioreactor the optimal flow rate was 55 mL/min in the flow rate of circulation. The lower flow rate of circulation may help to biodegrade toluene adsorped in soil and dissolved in underground water.

  • The paper was investigated on the mooring forces(or tension) and motion response characteristics for a 8-point mooring floating dock in regular waves using a commercial code(AQWA). To achieve the aim of the research, a numerical simulation was adapted on an inner port environment condition, which the water depth is 10 meters, significant wave amplitude(1.05 m). wave period(3.85 sec), wind speed(20.21 m/s), wind and current direction ($90^{\circ}$), incident waves(${\chi}=180^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$). The dimension of the numerical model is length(140 m), breadth(32 m), depth(14.6 m). The maximum length of a mooring line is 120m. We can expected that roll and pitch motions appeared in beam seas better than head sea. the mooring forces also indicated higher in bean seas than in head seas including wind forces.

  • An experiment, aimed at finding out the adhesive condition when adhesive non-woven fabrics for padding cloths are used for padding cloths of blouse, has been conducted. Materials used were three different kinds-scoured, sanforized, and permanent pressed- of combined fabrics of polyester and cotton. As for padding cloth material, mixed spinning nonwoven fabrics of polyster and viscose rayon have been used. Adhesive conditions were made each at $120^{\circ}C$, $140^{\circ}C$, $160^{\circ}C$ and $180^{\circ}C$, respectively, and adhesive time has been limited to 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 seconds each. External appearance as well as quality have been watched through washing experiment. In case of 12$0^{\circ}C$, all experimental materials were separated at the seventh washing and as for $140^{\circ}C$, all but the material which has been attached on scoured cloth for 40 seconds were separated. In case of 20 seconds only permanent pressed cloth and sanforized cloth were separated. At 30 and 40 seconds, the adhesive conditions have been maintained up to the seventh washing. In case of 5 seconds $180^{\circ}C$it was not turned yellow, but all were separated. In case of 10, 20, 30 and 40 seconds, at above temperature all were turned yellow in the adhesive process. Therefore, the adhesive power could be said strong enough, though it was not very practical. In this experiment, the lower the temperature of iron is, the longer time it has to be touched. At higher temperature however, relatively short time makesn it possible for adhesion and depending upon the finishing methode of cloth, there is slight difference in adhesive power. As a result, the best adhesive condition for all experimental materials is $160^{\circ}C$of iron temperature, and the time of adhesion is between 30 and 40 seconds.
