  • The genes involved in riboflavin synthesis (ribI, II, III, and IV) were found immediately downstream of luxG in the lux operon from Photobacterium species. The single stranded DNA containing the intergenic region of lux genes and rib genes from Photobacterium phosphoreum was fully protected by P. phosphoreum mRNA from the S1 nuclease mapping assay suggesting that a transcriptional terminator was not present in the region. In addition, the levels of riboflavin synthase activity in P. phosphoreum was increased during the development of bacterial bioluminescence in the same fashion as the luciferase and fatty acid reductase activities. Insertion of the Photobacterium leiognathi DNA extending from luxB to ribII, between a strong lux promoter and a reporter gene (chloramphenicol acetyltransferase, CAT) and transferred by conjugation into P. leiognathi, did not affect expression of reporter gene. Moreover the CAT gene was not expressed in an analogous construct missing the lux promoter indicating that a promoter was not present in this region. Based on the data here, it can be concluded that the lux genes and rib genes in Photobacterium species are under common regulation.

  • Recently the solution integrated of vision and motion controller which are important element in automatiomn system has been many developed. However typically such a solutions has a many case that integrated vision processing and motion control into network or organized two chip solution on one module. We implement one chip solution integrated into vision and motion controller using Zynq-7000 that is developed recently as extended processing platform. We also apply EtherCAT to motion control that is industrial Ethernet protocol which have compatibility for open standardization Ethernet in order to control of motion because EtherCAT has a secure to realtime control and can treat massive data.

  • ICAO defines performance requirements of navigation system such as accuracy, integrity, continuity and availability. The integrity is most significant performance requirement in aviation where safety of life is crucial. Many researches on this topic anticipate that GPS with SBAS or Galileo can meet APV requirements and GPS with GBAS or Galileo with GBAS will meet CAT II and III requirements. These performance expectations are based on global analysis. In this paper regional integrity analysis in Korea using various combinations of modernized GPS, Galileo and SBAS is given. The simulation results show that CAT I requirement can be met using modernized GPS and Galileo alone, however, CAT II and III are not met even augmenting SBAS because of VPL. A more efficient augmentation such as GBAS which can reduce VPL dramatically is required to meet CAT II and III in Korean region.

  • An 11 year-old male Korean short-haired cat was presented to local animal hospital due to weight loss, vomiting, and intestinal hypomotility. After the cat was euthanized by poor clinical outcomes, necropsy was performed at Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency. At necropsy, the stomach was enlarged and had some nearly complete pellet food and the yellow mucous contents. The lumen of the middle and lower parts of the jejunum became narrow. Histopathologically, medium-sized lymphoid cells with hyperchromatic nuclei enclosed by scant cytoplasm were diffusely proliferated from mucosa to serosa of the small intestine. These findings were mainly observed in the jejunum and slightly in the duodenum and ileum. The monomorphous lymphocytes were 1 to 1.5 times larger than red blood cells and had few mitotic figures. Metastasis of the tumor cells to other organs was not observed. In the result of immunohistochemical analysis for identifying the origin of tumor cells, CD3 was expressed, but $CD79{\alpha}$ was not detected in the infiltrated cells. This case was diagnosed as T cell intestinal lymphoma in a Korean short-haired cat based on the clinical signs, gross findings, histopathology, and immunohistochemistry.

  • The present study was designed to define whether dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) could affect antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), catalase (CAT), and glutathione S transferase (GST), and the level of malondialdehyde (MDA), a marker of lipid peroxidation, in the small intestine and liver from broiler chickens. A total of twenty-four 3 wk-old male broiler chickens were assigned to three dietary treatments (1.5% corn oil, 0.75% corn oil plus 0.75% CLA, and 1.5% CLA, isocalorically), and fed a grower-finisher diet from 22 to 35 days. In the small intestinal mucosae, the specific activities of SOD, GSH-Px, CAT, and GST, and the level of MDA were not substantially influenced by dietary CLA. In the liver, the specific activities of SOD, GSH-Px, and GST, and the level of MDA were also unaffected by dietary CLA at the level of either 0.75% or 1.5% compared with corn oil at the level of 1.5%. However, the broiler chickens fed the diet containing 1.5% CLA resulted in a significant increase in peroxisomal CAT activity and a marked decrease in total lipid and non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) from liver tissues compared with those fed the diet containing 1.5% corn oil. In conclusion, ability of CLA to increase hepatic CAT activity suggest that dietary CLA may affect, at least in part, antioxidant defense system as well as lipid metabolism in the liver of broiler chickens.

  • The purpose of this research is to show that elements of learning information's record(learning time and the score of practice test) have a significant effect on the correctness of decision when they are applied to e-Learning based on CAT with SPRT model. Especially, the score of practice test can be used in the real e-learning environment as its effect showed approximately 90% improvement. Therefore, if we apply learning information's record to SPRT in evaluation, we can evaluate the learner's ability more precisely and quickly, contributing to the enhancement of the individualization of learners. If an algorithm with variables from learning information's record can be developed, a better e-Learning evaluation program will be made in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the current status of disseminating knowledge on Korean people by analyzing biographies for juvenile and general audiences with the subject term 'Korea' in WorldCat. Languages and topics of 15,007 bibliographic records and topic facets, biographees, and holding libraries in the U.S. of 487 biographies for juvenile audiences were analyzed. Major findings are as follows: 1) 30 English biographies are held by may libraries in the U.S. and the most popular subjects are Kim Il-song and Kim Jong-il, 2) 457 Korean biographies are not held by many libraries, and King Sejong and the General Yi Sun-sin are the most popular subjects, 3) many Korean biographies are picture books for the very young readers with the focus on Korean folklores and anecdotal biographies, and 4) there are some errors in topic facets, dispersion of biographees, and inaccurate holding lists of bibliographic records. Therefore, there seems to be little to read with an interest and promote the diffusion of knowledge on Korean people through libraries.

  • Caloric restriction (CR) has been associated with health benefits and these effects have been attributed, in part, to modulation of oxidative status by CR; however, data are still controversial. Here, we investigate the effects of seventeen weeks of chronic CR on parameters of oxidative damage/modification of proteins and on antioxidant enzyme activities in cardiac and kidney tissues. Our results demonstrate that CR induced an increase in protein carbonylation in the heart without changing the content of sulfhydryl groups or the activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase (CAT). Moreover, CR caused an increase in CAT activity in kidney, without changing other parameters. Protein carbonylation has been associated with oxidative damage and functional impairment; however, we cannot exclude the possibility that, under our conditions, this alteration indicates a different functional meaning in the heart tissue. In addition, we reinforce the idea that CR can increase CAT activity in the kidney. Moreover, CR caused an increase in CAT activity in kidney, without changing other parameters. • IIoT, the IoT technology applied to the industrial field, is being used as a monitoring technology for increasing in production rate and safety of workers. However, monitoring through the construction of IIoT network using Ethernet and RS485 in production lines where dozens to hundreds of machine tools are manufacturing components, have difficulties of infrastructure cost and network flexibility and fluidity. Therefore, in this paper, using IEEE 802.15.4 standard WSN device to construct a Ad-Hoc WSN in the production line. In addition, the transmission period and order of the sensor nodes are set by applying the EtherCAT communication method in which the payload frames are shared by all the sensor nodes. From this, we have overcome the problem of reliability decline and real-time issue due to the packet collision of wireless network and confirmed that it is a wireless network routing method that can be used in the actual industrial field.

  • The deactivation of $V/TiO_2$ catalyst used in SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) using ammonia as a reductant to remove the nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the exhaust gas from fired power plant has been studied. The activity and surface area of the catalyst (Used-cat) which was exposed to the exhaust gas for long period have considerably decreased. The characterizations of these SCR catalysts were performed by XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, and IC/ICP. The crystal structure of $TiO_2$ both fresh and used catalyst has not been changed. However, $(NH_4)HSO_4$ deposited on the used catalyst surface verified from FT-IR, FE-SEM, and IC/ICP analysis. Moreover, the durability of $SO_2$ was increased by diminishing sulfate ($SO_4^{-2}$)f form.
