  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the psychological dynamics of the characters in the novel 'vegetarian' of the Han Gang and the relationship patterns in the system by applying object relation theory. 'Vegetarianism' has already been analyzed and reinterpreted in various angles, but if you look at it from the object relationship theory and the systematic perspective, you can understand the inevitable history of the generation through psychological analysis and relation dynamics of the person. First, we will analyze the psychological dynamics of the characters by analyzing the meanings and exploring the meaning with the object relation theory and concept. The psychological analysis and the search process of the characters based on the theory are enough evidence for the counselor to reinterpret the life story of the client in the future clinical scene. In addition, in order to realize ethical but practical clinical education, the field of clinical practice will be extended when analyzing the characters using art. It is suggested that the meaning search through various character analysis needs to be accumulated culturally.

  • This paper explored contrasting responses of the press and the academic circle to The Vegetarian, the 2016 Man Booker International Prize winner, and delved into the controversy over its faithfulness to Han Kang's Ch'aesikjuuija. In the comparison of Han Kang's Ch'aesikjuuija and Deborah Smith's The Vegetarian, many mistranslation cases have been found in The Vegetarian. This paper is meaningful in that it did not stop at discussing translation errors in The Vegetarian but probed the cause of Smith's mistranslation and that it identified The Vegetarian as an English localization text, instead of a translation text. This paper concludes with a discussion of the achievements of The Vegetarian as Smith's rewriting of Ch'aesikjuuija and makes suggestions as to what translators and the academic world can do for the reader and the English translation of Korean literature in the future.

  • As the times change, the way of enjoying art and the needs of viewers are diversifying, and the filmization of novels that visualize existing works has become a popular genre across the ages. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of providing implications for movie works based on novel works by considering the filmization of novels. However, while there are successful works, works that have been filmized without properly understanding the artist's intention or narrative fail in the box office. In this study, focusing on Lim Woo-sung's . The film did not give a clear answer to the important contents of the novel, "The Violence of Young Hye," and what the meaning of "Flower" means to Young Hye. Because of this, Yeong-hye in the film was portrayed only as a victim of violence pursuing a blind artistic desire, but rather a sensational element. Therefore, it suggested that the filmization of novels is needed in the future to make films work as a medium that can add depth of enjoyment by utilizing the media characteristics of films.

  • This study identifies the perceptions and choice attributes toward plant-based foods and identifies the differences between vegetarians and omnivores. We conducted an online survey of 245 vegetarians and 246 omnivores. The results reveal a significant difference between vegetarians and omnivores. Compared to omnivores, vegetarians perceived that plant-based food products would be 'good taste', 'animal-friendly', and 'consistent with their personal value'. Omnivore scores were higher in the perception that it would be 'good for health' and 'environment-friendly'. No statistically significant difference was obtained between both diet groups when considering the factor of nutrition. When considering choice as an attribute for plant-based food products, vegetarians responded that 'ingredients' were the most important, while omnivores responded that 'taste' was the most important. These results can be used as basic data for developing and promoting plant-based food products in South Korea.

  • This study investigated the awareness and consumption behavior of 118 vegetarians and omnivores toward plant-based dairy alternatives. The preference and choice attribute questionnaires were compared. Significant differences were obtained between the two groups when considering the purchase experience, preference, and selection attributes of plant-based dairy alternatives. Vegetarians had more experience purchasing plant-based dairy alternative products. In both groups, environmental and animal protection were the major factors that influenced the highest response rate for purchasing plant-based dairy alternatives. The preference score of vegetarians for plant-based dairy alternative products was high, indicating that vegetarianism had a significant effect on their preference for plant-based dairy alternative products. Analysis of selection attributes revealed that price, product weight, appearance, and manufacturer were considered important by vegetarians, whereas nutritional components and labeling, manufacturing environment, composition of ingredients, and taste and texture were considered more important by the omnivores. Results of this study can be used as basic data for the future development of the fast-growing industry producing plant-based dairy alternative products.
