  • These days, geographic information system has released in everyday life and industries. However, the shipyard only uses it to manage the layout of the yard. In this study, we apply the Geographic Information System to shipbuilding block logistics simulation to analyse the behavior of bogies and forklifts carrying blocks and materials in the shipyard. The shipyard manages daily block logistics plans at the execution planning stage. However, since it is a daily plan, it is difficult to respond to an unexpected situation immediately, and application to judge a certain value or higher value is insufficient. Therefore, a simulation model was created using the shape and attribute information inherent in the geographic information system to verify and improve the block logistics of the mid-and long-term yards. Through this simulation model, we will analyse loads on the workplace, stockyard, and road, and contribute to overall logistics improvement from the point of view of resource planning. In addition, the results of the simulation are reflected in the planning, to help support various decisions.

  • The purpose of this study is to inquiry spatial features of shipbuilding subcontract structures. These days, firms are trying to get their goals by wav of production system which is related to other firm. Shipbuilding subcontract structures which builds complex and grand plant show a different peculiarity according to spatial features having rules of business relations with contracting firms. First of all, internal subcontracting firms which takes part in the production process of contracting firm and shipbuilding cooperative complex firms which showing a peculiarity of spin-off firms are closely related with contracting firm. And firms in Changwon that have a specialized with machine industry and those of Busan that have made development in marine equipment industries traditionally are connected with subcontract relations because of a high level of specialization relatively. On the other hand, subcontracting firms which range from non-localized and provide standardized products are less connected with contracting firm. In order to develop of Korea' shipbuilding industry, first, close cooperative relation is important with subcontracting firms which concentrate internal and outside contacting firm. And, it is necessary to strengthen selective business relations with far distance firms which are specialized in technology.

  • This Research is to study types and distribution for place name of migration derived from Korea Peninsula by analyzing villages name of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture. Village names of Yanbian Korean were identified as 945 out of 2,015. Place name migrated from Korea Peninsula was turned out 51 villages. Up to the present time in the Transition of China, 34 place names were disappeared, maintained place names were 16, and rehabilitated place name after loss was 1. The place name by naming method were classified as small area directed migration, large area directed migration, and merged migration. In case of small area directed migration, origin and destination is same such as Jeongeup and Muju, Cheonbuk, large area directed migration is named case by region migrants like a Gangwonchon named by people moved from GanwonDo, and merged case combine initials with each village names in case of GilseongChon by colligated Gilju and Seokseongmyeon. The results will be expected to support research information for identity and ethnical migration process.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the location of the epicenter of a medium-sized earthquake(magnitude 4.8) that occurred on January 20, 2007 in the Odaesan area with lineament features using a shaded relief map(1/25,000 scale) and satellite images from LANDSAT-8 and KOMPSAT-2. Previous studies have analyzed lineament features in tectonic settings primarily by examining two-dimensional satellite images and shaded relief maps. These methods, however, limit the application of the visual interpretation of relief features long considered as the major component of lineament extraction. To overcome some existing limitations of two-dimensional images, this study examined three-dimensional images, produced from a Digital Elevation Model and drainage network map, for lineament extraction. This approach reduces mapping errors introduced by visual interpretation. In addition, spline interpolation was conducted to produce density maps of lineament frequency, intersection, and length required to estimate the density of lineament at the epicenter of the earthquake. An algorithm was developed to compute the Value of the Relative Density(VRD) representing the relative density of lineament from the map. The VRD is the lineament density of each map grid divided by the maximum density value from the map. As such, it is a quantified value that indicates the concentration level of the lineament density across the area impacted by the earthquake. Using this algorithm, the VRD calculated at the earthquake epicenter using the lineament's frequency, intersection, and length density maps ranged from approximately 0.60(min) to 0.90(max). However, because there were differences in mapped images such as those for solar altitude and azimuth, the mean of VRD was used rather than those categorized by the images. The results show that the average frequency of VRD was approximately 0.85, which was 21% higher than the intersection and length of VRD, demonstrating the close relationship that exists between lineament and the epicenter. Therefore, it is concluded that the density map analysis described in this study, based on lineament extraction, is valid and can be used as a primary data analysis tool for earthquake research in the future.

  • This paper is the first geomorphological research on TAENGNIGI which is famous for old geography book in Korea. The purpose of this paper is to explain TAENGNIGI in modem geomorphological viewpoint and then, lay the foundation for establising Korean style geomorphological terms. It also analyzes TAENGNIGI from Lee, Jung-Hwan(the authority of TAENGNIGI's geomorphological viewpoint. The main results are summarized as follows. Firstly, It is estimated that TAENGNIGI is a geography book including human and physical geography. Secondly, in spite of Lee, Jung-Hwan's some metaphysical explanation of feng-shui in TAENGNIGI. his geomorphological appreciative eye is excellent. Thirdly, it is possible that a Korean style geomorphological term will be established based upon the result of this paper on TAENGNIGI. Fourthly, Lee, Jung-Hwan indicted geography(地理), profit(生利), human nature(人心), landscape(山水) as factors in selecting of people's dwelling place(可居地) and he described that geography(mainly physical geography) was mostly important among the four factors mentioned in selecting of people's dwelling place. Especially he also mentioned that good landscapes have a favorable influence upon the forming of people's character.

  • To understand the changing regionality of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture(YKAP) in China within the world-economy, this paper examined the spatial division of labor in agriculture and industry with three divisions of period through the regional geography of world-system In the Japanese colonial period(l909$\sim$1949), the YKAP was made into a typical peripheral agricultural and industrial region which was exploited by the Japanese empire. In the socialist period(1949$\sim$1978) which China separated from the world-system, the YKAP was transformed into a socialistic agricultural and industrial region. In the reform and open-door period(1978$\sim$present), the YKAP still plays a role as a peripheral region due to the late open-door policy in 1992 of Chinese government on the border land and else, while most littoral areas of China are developed into a semi-peripheral region. Therefore if the YKAP continues to exist in the future, it is a critical matter to raise the position of the YKAP within the world-economy into a semi-periphery as soon as possible to increase the ratio of Korean ethnic in the YKAP.

  • This paper aim to review the extent of Park Je-Ga's geographical interest and knowledge and where he intended to make good use of them through Bukhakui(北學議). In particular, it was classified and interpreted as the contents related to agricultural, industrial and commercial geography focusing on the contents of the economic geography. As for the contents related to agricultural geography, it suggests minutely and precisely the necessity and concrete methodology for farmland, seeding, fertilization, breeding of cattle, sericulture and fruits. As for the contents related to industrial geography, it lays emphasis on the pursuit of the modernization of ours by means of accepting high-tech, industrial engineering and knowledge from Western scholars who were staying in Beijing. As for the contents related to commercial geography, it puts emphasis on the conversion of idle labor capacity of the nobility to practical production capacity, the pursuit of economic vitalization by opening land transportation through wheels and the trade by sea with neighboring countries such as Qing, Japan, Ryukyu, Vietnam and so on. It can be known through this study that Park Je-Ga was a realist who made an effort to raise the economic power of the region and the country with using his endeavor of economic geographical interest and knowledge. His economic geographical interest and knowledge were connected directly with practical use. If his economic geographical knowledge and way of thinking had been accepted successfully at that time, the economic power in the latter half of the Joseon dynasty could have leaped to a considerable degree.

  • In terms of world system theory, the historical period of Yanbian area was divided into 3 parts: Japan colonial period which was assigned to the periphery of world system, socialist period which escaped from the world system, and the reform-open period that was reincorporated to world system. The cultural character of each period was studied. The conclusions are as follow. During the period of periphery of world system, Yanbian area as an area where the massed Korean people lived, was dominated by Korean peninsular culture. However, Yanbian area was also affected by the Japanese and Chinese cultural assimilation policy. During the period that Yanbian area aparted from the world system, it was affected by the requirement of unique socialist culture assimilation, and traditional cultures were hard to keep. During the period of reincorporation to the world system with lighten of minority policy by Chinese government, traditional national culture begin revived, but due to extend intercourse of Yanbian with China mainland and Republic of Korea, China-Korean culture of Yanbian area was strongly affected by Chinese and Korean culture too.

  • After colonization by the Japanese Empire, Seoul had experienced structural changes during the 1920s. As the number of residents increased dramatically, the land price of Seoul began to skyrocket, bringing about a new type of real estate developers. They invented a new type of hanok, which is very small compared to a traditional hanok, by dividing a large parcel of land into several small pieces. These hanoks were built by Korean developers who ran their business like modern developers today-acquiring large piece of land, developing and selling the property, and even providing financing schemes to buyers in some cases. However, the Korean developers mainly provided housing to the poor Koreans suffering from housing shortage. At the time, many Koreans worried that the City of Seoul would turn into a Japanese city, since the Japanese were trying to expand their real estate development to the north of Cheonggyecheon. However, their development plans have been neglected, as a result of the development activity of the Korean Jerry-builders in the north. The purpose of this paper is to reevaluate the role of the Korean developers in real estate development during the colonization period, especially in the 1920s.

  • This study aims to reveal that the changes in the population and housing consumption of foreigners, which are constantly undergoing structural changes, affect both the housing market of home and host country. The cause and the change of foreigners' housing market in Seoul were analyzed to be that the foreigners' continuous inflows occurred due to the 'fixed effect of rent' on the rental market, which is different from the domestic housing market. Korean-Chinese, who tend to be circular migration, make the current concentration of the housing market. Meanwhile, Korean-Chinese, who have experienced migration from Korea, emerged as major housing consumers, causing a real estate boom in Yanji City. Housing investment by Korean-Chinese is concentrated in the 'West' from Yanbian University, closely related to the city's urban planning that affects housing supply. This transnational housing consumption of immigrants connects the housing market of home and host country, in turn, causes the filtering process in the two countries simultaneously, which results the 'transnational housing filtering process'.
