Amonng many creative problem-solving methodologies, the TRIZ with practicality and applicability has been utilized a lot in practice and education. This research introduced the TRIZ course for engineering problem-solving training to engineering college students. Then, a survey about students' ability to solve engineering problems after the TRIZ course were analyzed statistically. Finally, problem-solving cases of industry in each team project were examined. It is proved that an understanding of the TRIZ should be confirmed on that can be applied and utilized and can be linked to well performing team projects. Therefore, it is determined that more active efforts are required for the development of TRIZ learing methods to improve the education system to help students improve comprehension for students in creative problem-solving skills.

This study was conducted to explore the major adjustment factors in undergraduates by investigating the characteristics of group which doesn't correspond to Holland's congruence assumption. For this study, 313 sophomore year undergraduates in engineering were surveyed. The results of this study showed as follows. First, the group which doesn't correspond to Holland's congruence assumption represented 16.6% of all. Second, there were significant differences of basic psychological needs among four groups by interest-major congruence and major adjustment. These findings imply that major selection in congruence with interest is not critical and we should also consider basic psychological needs(autonomy, competence, relatedness) for engineering major adjustment.

The purpose of this study was to explore factors predicting career exploration behavior of engineering students. Career decision making types(rational type, intuitive type, and dependent type) and career decision making self-efficacy were included as predictors for this study. 249 engineering students in Gyeonggi-do of South Korea participated in this study and 231 data analyzed as final samples through multiple regression and mediation analysis. Results showed as follows: first, rational and intuitive decision making significantly predicted career exploration behavior. Also, career decision making self-efficacy completely mediated between these career decision making types(rational and intuitive) and career exploration behavior. The implication of the findings on practice for career education are discussed in the paper.

The purpose of this study is to extract a skill level of human resource in the field of science and technology. To accomplish the goal of this study, precedent research was conducted and then, the draft of skill level for Human Resource in the field of Science and Technology (HRST) was created by wrap-up meeting. The skill level of the HRST was finalized after confirming verification of 20 SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) from January to February 2016 by two times. The conclusions are as follows; First, the skill level of the HRST consists five categories. Each of the level has educational background, work experience, certification, duty, major and so on. Second, the contents of the skill level were found to be mostly valid.

This paper deals with the effect of student characteristics from a case study on the different teaching evaluation scores under the same conditions of professor and course characteristics. In particular, focusing the evaluation score gabs caused by different course achievements of two classes, we can analyze the influence of the student characteristics and interpret the meaning. This case study shows that the student characteristics can lead out a distinct difference in the teaching evaluation scores under the most factors related to professors and courses are controlled, In conclusion, this case study could be appropriately used to support the interpretation of the student characteristic hypothesis among several hypotheses about the meaning of correlations between student achievement and teaching evaluation.

This research is one of the Industry-University cooperation in idea factory of Korea Maritime and Ocean University. Idea factory of Korea Maritime and Ocean University is trying to train creative talented students and discover ingenious ideas. The contents are consisted of the possibility for the replacement of a metal valve disk to composite valve disk in butterfly valve based on the diversification. Purpose in this study is to predict failure field by each fly by appling Tsai-Wu Failure Index.

The Human Robot Interface (HRI) based on 3D depth sensor on the docent robot is developed and the localization algorithm based on extended Kalman Filter (EKFLA) are proposed through the capstone design by graduate students in this paper. In addition to this, the performance of the proposed EKFLA is also analyzed. The developed HRI system consists of the route generation and localization algorithm, the user behavior pattern awareness algorithm, the map data generation and building algorithm, the obstacle detection and avoidance algorithm on the robot control modules that control the entire behaviors of the robot. It is confirmed that the improvement ratio of the localization error in EKFLA on the scenarios 1-3 is increased compared with the localization algorithm based on Kalman Filter (KFLA) as 21.96%, 25.81% and 15.03%, respectively.

In this work, we present a case study of using the assessments for the enhancement of students' learning motivation in engineering education. The assessments, given in between summative assessments such as midterms and finals, may have a component of formative evaluation, which are reported as very effective tools as the sources of feedback to improve teaching and learning. We studied how the students' performance is improved by additional tests in engineering education. Also, we examined the factors of successful results of the cooperative learning model, Student Teams-Achievement Division, which is based on imposing a number of tests, achieved in our previous work.
