Abstract

Objectives: This study evaluated the impact of a Korean medicine (KM) health promotion program, "S-Line Classroom," on adult obesity in Namwon City, with a focus on weight, body fat percentage, and waist circumference, aiming to explore KM's role in community obesity prevention. Methods: Over ten weeks, 43 adults participated in bi-weekly qi circulation exercises, strength training, and weekly acupuncture targeting abdominal fat. Data on body measurements, blood pressure, blood glucose, and participant satisfaction were collected pre- and post-program. Results: Participants showed significant reductions in weight (2.24 kg), body mass index (0.97 points), body fat mass (2.71 kg), and waist circumference (5.44 cm), along with slight increases in muscle mass. Outcomes varied by age and obesity level, with high satisfaction reported. Conclusions: Findings suggest KM-based programs may reduce obesity-related health risks and support beneficial body composition changes, which highlights KM's potential in community obesity prevention and public health management.
