Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to report the effects of Korean medicine in treating a patient with peripheral facial nerve palsy. Methods: The patient received Korean herbal medicine and pharmacopuncture and acupuncture treatment for 14 days. We measured the House-Brackmann (HB) scale, Yanagihara's unweighed grading system (Yanagihara's score), and the numeric rating scale (NRS) to assess symptom changes. Results: After treatment, the patient showed decreased HB, Yanagihara's, and NRS scores. Conclusion: The results indicate that Korean medicine, including Korean herbal medicine and pharmacopuncture and acupuncture treatment, is effective in the management of patients with peripheral facial nerve palsy. Further clinical research on this patient group is needed.
