Abstract

This study aims to establish spatial area types in the Metaverse for effective information exchange and to define these concepts specifically for planning virtual spaces. The focus is on Chungbuk National University's case, where spaces were created for information exchange in both real and virtual environments. This research classifies types of information exchange into three categories: private, official, and selective. These were then analyzed and mapped to four virtual space areas to facilitate smooth exchanges. The Metaverse virtual space concept was examined through Chungbuk National University's example, leading to a planning framework for Metaverse virtual spaces. To establish these spaces, areas 2, 3, and 4, where both direct and indirect information exchange occurs, must be developed, starting from area 1, which connects reality to the virtual space. Area 4 is designated for indirect official information exchange, area 3 for all types of direct and indirect exchanges, area 2 for direct personal exchanges, and area 1 for connecting to real space. This study aims to aid in planning Metaverse virtual spaces that efficiently support information exchange and enhance real-world interactions.
