Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the architectural elements which have micro-scale in Sou Fujimoto's architecture. Sou Fujimoto repeatedly remind the idea about nature, especially tree and forest, as a methodology of his works which is hard to explain with conventional terms. According to his researches, tree have its own principle called 'tree-ness' which is based on the relation of the parts. Focusing on the tree-ness, Sou Fujimoto generally use micro-scale architectural elements as a part which is smaller than furniture-scale and applicate the principle of tree to the way of formation. Not only the technique, but the elements which has a micro-scale and is similar to parts of tree is important to explain the character of his architecture and space. This study aims to analyze the characters of architectural elements of Sou Fujimoto's works as following the thoughts about tree and forest which derive methodology of micro-scale architectural element. Furthermore, this study investigate that Sou Fujimoto's methodology could be explained by 'relations' between particle with words of science.
