Wind Resource Assessment of a Symmetrical Building Complex Using a Mirroring Transformation Technique

초록

Despite the excellency of unsteady flow simulation around urban building forest, Large Eddy Simulation(LES) is still a heavy tool due to computation time bottleneck. This paper introduces a simple wind resource assessment method by reducing number of LES simulation cases using geometrical symmetry of a building complex. As a demonstration case, wind resource assessment of Daejeon Government Complex (DGC) consisting of four symmetrical blocks was carried out. It was possible to reduce wind directional simulations from 16 to 3 cases by mirroring transformation using four symmetric axes of the building Also, it was confirmed that identification of prevailing wind direction and ventilation pathway within a building complex is crucial for Building-Integrated Wind Turbine (BIWT) siting.
