Abstract
School facilities are changing with the educational environment, such as the appearance of the new regular curriculum, and of the urban physical environment change, such as city environments, urban density, and the sizes of lots. There is a shortage of outdoor activity area because of the absence or reduction of the playground. That is a reason of the architectural solution is required. In spite of those importance, the urban mini schools, particularly their architectural plans, have not been actively researched. This study researches the architectural organization methodology with the two concepts of architectural areas in the school facilities: the public area, which is the variable area for the performance of extracurricular activities and communication, and the program area, which is the fixed area for the performance of the regular curriculum. The purpose of this study is to propose the urban mini school model on the basis of the methodology which is suitable for urban conditions. Finally, with the foregoing researched methodology, this study suggests the school type that is most suitable for the coming urban environment through a design proposal, organizing the public area and program area of the school facility. Ideally, this design proposal will provide a basic standard and an example for following studies and design plans about urban mini schools.
