The Relationship between Life Stress and Resilience among Dental Hygiene Students

일부 치위생과 학생들의 생활스트레스와 극복력의 관계

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate life stress and resilience levels, and the relationship between life stress and resilience among dental hygiene students. From July 11, 2016 to July 29, 2016, questionnaires were used to survey dental hygiene students in several areas, after which the data collected from 274 questionnaires were analyzed with IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 21.0 for Windows. The results showed a significant negative correlation between life stress and resilience for dental hygiene students in all factors (p<0.05, p<0.001). This means that higher the resilience, the lower the life stress. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance resilience as a preventive dimension and develop associated program to help dental hygiene students cope with life stress.

본 연구는 일부 치위생과 학생들이 경험하는 생활스트레스와 극복력 수준을 살펴보고, 그 관계를 분석하기 위해 수행하였다. 2016년 7월 11일부터 7월 29일까지 일부 지역 치위생과 재학생을 대상으로 설문조사하였고, 수집된 자료 274부를 IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 21.0 for Windows 프로그램으로 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 치위생과 학생이 경험한 생활스트레스는 5점 만점 중 평균이 2.35점으로 나타났으며, 8개의 생활스트레스 요인 중에서 학업문제가 가장 높았고, 교수와의 관계, 장례문제, 가치관문제, 경제문제, 가족과의 관계, 친구와의 관계 순으로 나타났다. 치위생과 학생의 극복력은 7점 만점 중 평균이 4.47점으로 나타났으며, '개인의 유능성'이 4.57점으로 '자신의 삶의 수용' 4.25점보다 높았다. 치위생과 학생의 일반적 특성에 따른 생활스트레스는 전공만족도(F=24.13, p<0.001), 학교성적(F=8.77, p<0.001), 경제상태(F=12.89, p<0.001), 건강상태(F=15.34, p<0.001), 대인관계(F=19.72, p<0.001)에서 유의한 차이가 나타났고, 극복력은 종교(t=2.29, p<0.05), 전공만족도(F=14.69, p<0.001), 학교성적(F=11.41, p<0.001), 경제상태(F=5.05, p<0.01), 건강상태(F=3.67, p<0.05), 대인관계(F=7.57, p<0.01)에 따라 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 치위생과 학생의 극복력과 생활스트레스의 관계는 모든 요인에서 통계적으로 유의한 부적 상관관계가 나타났으며(p<0.05, p<0.001), 극복력이 높을수록 생활스트레스가 낮아짐을 알 수 있었고, 치위생과 학생의 극복력에 영향을 미치는 생활스트레스의 하위 요인은 가치관문제, 가족관계, 장래문제 순으로 나타났다. 따라서 치위생과 학생들의 생활스트레스를 대처하기 위한 방안으로 예방적 차원의 극복력 향상 프로그램을 개발해야 할 필요성이 있으며, 생활스트레스 요인과 수준에 대한 검사를 통해 각 개인별 특성을 고려한 맞춤형 상담과 지도가 요구된다.
