인지 화질 측정 기술 동향

Abstract

멀티미디어 시스템에 있어서 제공하는 영상 콘텐츠의 화질은 우선적으로 보장되어야 할 요소이다. 화질에 최적화된 시스템을 설계하고 평가하기 위해서는 화질의 측정 기술이 필수적인데, 기존의 신호 기반 화질 평가가 갖는 한계 때문에 최근에는 시청자가 실제로 인지하는 화질을 평가하는 기술의 중요성이 높아지고 있다. 특히 UHD 시대에는 단순 화질뿐만 아니라 실감성 등의 인지적 요소도 주목을 받고 있기 때문이다. 본 글에서는 인지 화질 측정에 관련된 기술 동향을 살펴보고, UHD의 인지 화질 측정 관련 최신 연구를 살펴본다.
