IEEE 802.15 WPAN 표준 동향

초록

최근 사물 인터넷(IoT: Internet of Things)이 대두되고 있다. 사물 인터넷이 발달하게 되면 각종 사물에 통신 칩이 내장되어 인터넷에 연결되거나 자체 네트워크를 이루어 인류 삶에 다양한 경험을 제공하게 된다. IEEE 802.15 WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Networks)은 주로 근거리에서 다양한 서비스를 제공하는 무선 통신 표준으로 사물 인터넷에 적용될 수 있는 네트워킹 기술이다[1]. IEEE 802.15 표준의 주요 기술은 저전력으로 동작하는 저가의 소형 통신 칩으로 구현이 가능하기 때문에 각종 사물에 내장되어 오랫동안 동작할 수 있다. 또한 단말과 기지국, 단말과 단말의 연결 등 다양한 토폴로지를 지원하고, 각종 서비스에 필요한 다양한 전송 속도를 지원할 수 있다. 본고에서는 IEEE 802.15 표준이 제공하는 서비스와 이를 제공하기 위한 주요 기술을 소개하고, 최근 표준화 진행 과정을 알아본다.
