Abstract

Solar radiation entering a closed space through a window can cause unevenly distributed reflections of solar energy on the occupant's body and surrounding space, which affects the occupant's comfort. In this study, a space with a large window-to-wall ratio on the southern side was divided into a total of 16 segments, and the comfort distribution, which reflects the impact of solar radiation influx across this space, was determined. The analysis results revealed that the radiation temperature at the segments near the window was higher, by approximately $1.5^{\circ}C$, compared to those uninfluenced by solar radiation. PMV was calculated based on the radiation temperature, which was converted into PPD and compared with the time-dependent cumulative values. The cumulative PPD (PPDa) values of the segments influenced by solar radiation were found to be higher during the day, but lower during the night. In other words, the values of cumulative PPD may vary depending on cumulative conditions. In addition, the variation of cumulative PPD with the optical transmittance, which influences the intensity of incoming solar radiation, was examined.
