Abstract
David Chipperfield, Aldo Rossi, and Rafael Moneos's architecture are evaluated as a piece of work that has compact and simple, contains historicity, and expresses placeness. These results of their architecture, however, reveal that the differences with the prevailing perspective to placeness. Rather, they use very unique in terms of placeness that seems to have the opposition to a common perspective of placeness. In this article, I insist that these characteristics of placeness or the perception of the place based on not the spatial parameters, but the symbolic parameters. On the basis, I will discuss these issues raised as a symbol of the architecture.
