Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends of 'cyborg' found in Architecture and Urbanism of British Archigram Group. The cyborg architecture employed by Archigram since the formation of the group undermine their representational works. Archigram's cyborg architecture was basically influenced by the theory of cybernetics and at the same time by the social atmosphere of those days that was full of optimism for the future by the surprisingly advanced technique. By means of their cyborg architecture, Archigram anticipated post-human of future who interact with technological environment and pursued new fusion between architecture, machine and human and new urban structure. In their cyborg urbanism, each individual is free of all restrictions in virtue of prosthetic devices which can provide high level autonomy.
