Abstract
The purpose of this study to find the message in the architectural skin established by Herzog's and de Meuron's architecture through media theory of Marshall McLuhan. The characteristics of the media message appearing in the Herzog's and de Meuron's architectural skin are realistic methods of 'projecting the change in time to vision through various information on the architectural skin', 'making a time change through the medium of additional information of main information', or acquiring a new sense of space by 'adding information to the architectural skin and causing time inter-penetration inside a brain with past experiences and memories', which have led the qualitative growth of modern architecture. Therefore, in that a city itself is the forest of media creating information, the architectural skin of modern architecture in the information-oriented society becomes the intermediate media of communication, and should be understood by an observer as the qualitative pursuit to make the sharing of information function as the message of emotional communion.
