HEVC 영상 압축 기술 소개

Abstract

현재 ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group(VCEG)과 ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group(MPEG)에서는 고효율 영상 압축 기술(High-Efficiency Video Coding; HEVC) 표준화에 대한 막바지 작업을 진행하고 있다. 본 원고에서는 기존 H.264/AVC 대비 동일 주관적 화질 대비 압축률 2배를 목표로 하고 있는 HEVC 영상 압축 기술에 대해, 그 배경 및 주요 구성 요소 기술에 대해 설명하고, 표준화 진행과정에 대해서 간략하게 소개하고자 한다.
