Abstract
Grading is to alter sample size patterns into different sizes. The know-how of grading is based on the understanding of dimensional variations of different sizes. The purpose of this studs is to develop a grading increments chart for women's wear focusing on dimensional variations among groups of different ages, heights, and drop values. We approached the research purpose in two ways. Statistical analysis was focused on dimensional variations among groups of different ages. heights, and drop values. Specialists interviews were carried out with shop masters, graders, and pattern engineers. Specialists interviews verified the feasibility of this grading increments chart. As a result the grading increments chart was developed as follows. 1. Size codes and control dimensions of the chart are matched with KS size code. 2. Covering range and reference dimensions are analysed in separate age groups. 3. Basic increments were analysed in the medium height groups. For short or tall group, necessary dimensional increments were suggested. 4. Also for different figure types, which were presented as drop values, necessary dimensional increments were suggested. 'H-B' is the value of hip girth minus bust girth, and 'H-W' is the value of hip girth minus waist girth.
