A New Species of Terrestrial Isopoda of Littorophiloscia(Philosciidae) from the Philippines

Abstract

Littorophiloscia visayanensis n. sp. is described from Visayan islands in the Philippines. In the shape of telson, L. visayaensis is close to L. riedli Strouhal, 1966), L. nipponensis Nunomura 1986, and L. formosana Kwon and Jeon, 1993, but it is easily distinguished by the peculiar shape of male pleopod 1 endopod.

필리핀의 Visayan 군도에서 채집된 신종을 Littorophiloscia visayanensis로 명명하고 기재하였다. L. visayaensis는 미절의 형태가 L. riedli(Strouhal, 1966)나 L. nipponensis Nunomura 1986 및 L. formosana Kwon and Jeon. 1993와 유사하지만 수컷의 제1복지 내지의 독특한 형태를 보면 쉽게 구분된다.
