A Study on the University Accreditation Program and the Changes in the University Library Resources

대학평가인정제의 실시와 대학도서관 자원의 변화에 관한 연구

This study examines the university accreditation program and its effect on the resources in the accredited libraries, by using library statistics published in 1990-1999. The results indicate the accreditation may effect on the increase in library seat numbers, building spaces, library holdings, and budgets which included in the evaluation criteria, and the slight decrease in library personnel which is not. It suggests library professionals to be more involved in the accreditaion process to improve the present evaluation criteria and assessment methods.

본 연구는 대학평가인정과정 중 도서관 관련 영역이 어떻게 평가되고 있는지를 분석하고, 이 제도가 평가인정을 받은 대학의 도서관의 자원에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지 도서관통계를 이용하여 알아보았다. 그 결과 도서관 평가항목에 포함된 열람좌석수, 도서와 연속간행물 소장량 및 예산은 대학종합평가가 실시된 이후 크게 증가하였지만, 평가에 포함되지 않은 직원부문은 거의 변화하지 않았다는 점을 발견하고, 도서관 평가항목과 측정방법의 개선을 위한 방안을 제시하였다.
