Abstract

본 논문에서는 셀룰라 이동통신 환경에서 효율적인 사용자 이동성 관리를 위한 계층적 Sub-LA 방식을 제안한다. 효율적인 사용자 위치 추적을 위해서는 위치 등록과 페이징의 총비용을 최소화해야한다. 이러한 총비용은 가입자의 이동성과 호발생율에 크게 의존하다. 또한, 총비용을 최소화하기 위해서는 최적 Location Area(LA) 크기를 구하는 일이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 기존에 제안된 여러 가지 방식들을 소개하고, 유동적인 이동성 모형을 사용한 fixed LA(FLA) 방식과 distance-based LA(DBLA) 방식에 대한 최적화 기법을 유도한다. 유도된 수치들로부터 세 가지 방식의 성능을 비교, 분석한다. 그리고, 시뮬레이션을 통해 많은 경우에 본 논문에서 제안된 방식인 layered sub-LA 방식이 기존의 방식들의 성능을 능가함을 보인다.
