Abstract
Various methods for seed treatments have been devised to improve the rate and uniformity of seed germination of gourd (Lagenaria siceraria Standl.). Hydropriming and priming, the imbibition of seeds in distilled water and osmotic solutions respectively, are useful techniques for early establishment of uniform seedlings. In this study, the optimum conditions for hydropriming and priming were determined in gourd (Lagenaria siceraria Standl.) seeds. Effect of hydropriming was compared with those of osmotic priming.
