Abstract

The purpose of this study was development and verification of the emotional intelligence program for children. Developed program was labeled "Increasing the Power of Mind." This program consists of four parts-sensitivity, self-esteem, motivation, and communication skills. Each parts consists of eight activities. The program was practiced at susung elementary school in Jung up. The subjects were 79 sixth-grade children. The effectiveness of the program has been evaluted by taking pre and past tests. The test results suggest that the program has been effective in improving the children's emotional intelligence on all of the following areas, such as sensitivity, self-esteem, motivation, and communication skills.
