Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the compressional properties of polyester fiber cushions those are made by thermal bonding of regular and lower-melting point fiber with blending ratios of 70/30, 60/40, 50/50 cm"/g and are also heat treated at the temperature of 80, 100, 12$0^{\circ}C$. Compressional properties of these fiber cushions such as pressure-deformation, compressional recovery, compressional relaxation and ball rebound were tested and analyzed. Result of the pressure-deformation test was well matched with the theoretical equation of P -Pu = (CyV,,2g)((V.yV)" -1) reported by earlier investigator. Resilience and compressional recovery were decreased with an increase of heat-treated temperature and the amount of low melting fiber, but ball rebound ratio was increased. The relationship between the ratio of pressure and the relaxation time was well matched with the equation of $P/P_max$ =A -B logt.A -B logt.
