In this study, graft copolymerization of poly(ethylene glycol)-monomethacrylates was performed onto low density polyethylene(LDPE) films by corona discharge technique to prepare polyethyleneglycol(PEG) surfaces. The prepared PEG surfaces were characterized by the measurement of water contact angle, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in the attenuated total reflectance mode(FTIR-ATR), and electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis(ESCA). All these measurements indicated that the PEG chains were grafted on the LDPE surface. The chemical structures of prepared PEG surfaces could be systematically changed by varing discharge power.
