Abstract

A continuous voile drawing apparatus was designed and the behavior of the polymeric specimen during the Bone drawing process was analyzed. The experimental results revealed that at constant incoming velocity, a smaller outgoing velocity gave a higher drawing rate, and when the other parameters were constant a higher heat-band temperature gave a higher drawing rate, which was in a good agreement with the theoretical predictions. The heat of fusion of the specimen within the heat-band was rapidly decreased with the relative position in the heat-band when the outgoing velocity increased. This must be obliged to an early corruption of the crystalline region at the early stage of the drawing process. The birefringence of the specimen within the heat-banal showed that most of the orientation occurred at the first 25% of the relative position in the heat-band, while the outgoing velocity gave a constant increase. The modulus and strength wore generally increased with increasing the outgoing velocity.
