Abstract

Cotton fabrics were treated with THPC-urea precondensate by pad-dry-ammonia curing. Flammability of treated cotton fabrics and physical properties such as tensile strength and tearing strength, and the optimum treatment conditions imparting maximum durable flame retartlancy were investigated. The fabrics treated by this technique had excellent durable flame resistance. The fabrics showed no change in tensile strength and a little reduction in tearing strength in comparison with the untreated fabric. The fabrics treated with more than 50% solution of THPC-urea precondensate could pass DOC FF 3-71 vertical flame lest after 50 laundry cycles.
