Abstract

The torsional rigidities of spun blend yarns were estimated in terms of physical and mechanical characteristics of constituent fibers. The considered physical characteristics were fiber diameter and its distribution, fiber ellipticity, mean fiber length, and torsional and bending rigidities of constituent fibers. And yarn structural parameters were surface helix angle, yarn linear density and blend ratio by weight fraction of blend yarns. The specific estimated net torsional rigidity of spun blend yarns depends upon yarn twist, the ratio of the torsional rigidity to the bending rigidity of constituent fibers, and blend ratios.
