Abstract
A series of diaminoquinoline monomers, such as 6-amino-2-(p-aminophenyl)-4- phenyl quinoline [QDA] and 6-amino-2(4-(p-aminophenoxy) phenyl)-4-phenyl quinoline EQDA(E) were synthesized via the Fnedlander quinoline synthesis reaction and they were identified with IR spectrometer, `H-NMR spectrometer, and elemental analysis. Diaminoquino- line monomers were reacted with pyromellitic dianhydride to obtain the polyquinoline amic acids. The polyquinoline amic acids were converted to polyquinoline imides by thermal imidiza-tion methods. FT-IR spectra of the polymers showed that the polyamic acids were successfully converted to polyimides. The analyses of the thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of polyquinoline imides showed that the newly synthesized polyquinoline imides had comparative properties with those of the other polyimides.
