Abstract

The location and width of the first spreader, and the width of the second spreader in the plain circular knitting machine were being changed because of same differences between knitting and take-up points in the course of manufacturing. This study was made in order to investigate the effects of those changes on the course and the skewness. The conclusions are as followers. 1. The course bow decreased markedly as the distance between the knitting point and the first spreader was lengthened. 2. When the width of second spreader was made long, both course bow and the skewness decreased. And the skewness also decreased notably. 3. To lessen the course bow, a control mechanism by which the gripping forces on each parts can be controlled and take-up mechanism by which the knitted fabric can be take-up in the circular or rope types, must be made available.
