Effects of Processing Parameters on the Bulk Properties of Textured PVC Fibers

Abstract

The effects of processing conditions on the bulk properties of PVC fibers were studied. The results showed that the pre-wet sprayed filament is textured better and move uniformly than unsprayed one. But it was confirmed that the fibers textured over Tg showed some damage by projectina and SEM photos, and by tensile test. The important parameters which affect the bulk property are the texturing temperature and its residence time. The optimum gear temperature of PVC fiber was in the neighborhood of 75$^{\circ}C$ to 85$^{\circ}C$. And residence time about 0.7 sec was at least required for the rearrangement of the molecular chain.
