Anisotropic Bending Properties of Plain Woven Fabric

Abstract

The anisotropic bending properties with the various testing directions of plain woven fabrics were analyzed in terms of bias direction and constituent yarn properties. A theoretical relation of this bending was found to explain the bending behaviors of the woven fabrics tested at the biased angle with respect to the warp and filling directions. The theoretical equations were formulated in terms of bias angle, $\alpha$, bending and torsional rigidities of constituent yarn. It was found that the theoretical relationship is fitted well with the experimental values in a plain woven fabric with low fabric count, and then bending rigidity of the plain woven fabric shows minimum value at cut strip angle, 45 degree.
