Abstract
This paper describes the development of a new type of an integrated optical filter using the frequency characteristics of a directly-connected directional coupler with a Rib waveguide. It has been designed for multiplexing and demultiplexing light froups in different wavelength regions. Also, the effects of higher modes, couplings between input waveguides or output waveguides, and dispersion of material are considered.
