Abstract

Styrene and vinyl acetate were copolymerized with maleic anhydride respectively by solution polymerization and each polymer was reacted with -hydroxyethylcinnamate and -hydroxybutylcinnamate respectively in the methyl ethyl ketone at 80℃. The photosensitive characteristics of the four kinds of polymer were investigated by using yield of residual film and IR spectra. Benzophenone, Michler's ketone, 5-nitroacenaphthene, and 2-nitrofluorene were used as a sensitizer. The best yield of residual film was obtained when the benzophenone, Michler's ketone, 5-nitroacenaphthene, and 2-nitrofluorene were added to the resin by weight percentage of 8, 8, 5, and 8 respectively. Among the four sensitizers, 5-nitroacenaphthene had the best sensitivity for the water soluble photosensitive polymers.
