Abstract
At present, many sheep have been bred in Korea which were supplied from Australia 6∼8 years ago. during the past 6∼8 years the sheep were bred under the condition of Korean climate and by the feed in Korean farm. In this study, we have examined some of physical and chemical properties of wool and have analysed the tested results. The results of those are as the followings; The scouring yield of Korean wool is 55∼60% which is a little lower than that of Australian wool. The fineness of wool shorn last year has been changed thicker by approximately 1∼2㎛ compared with that of the wool from the sheep supplied from Australia 6∼8 years ago. The qnality number of the Korean wool from the breeds of Corriedale and Romney is about 54's and for Polwarth about 64's, the variance of their fineness values is, however, comparatively larger than that of ASTM standard. The content of cystine and cysteine is 308∼377μmole/g which is slightly smaller than that of Australian Merino wool.
