Graft Copolymerization of Vinyl monomers onto pulps(Part 2)

Various monomers (Acrylonitrile, Vinyl acetate, Methyl methacrylate, Styrene) have been grafted onto cellulose pulps, and the physical properties of the grafted pulps have been studied. 1) Tensile strength and bursting strength of the paper made from A.N. and M.M.A. grafted pulp were decreased, but that of VAc was increased. 2) Wet strength of the paper made of grafted pulp was increased. 3) Tear strength of the paper made of grafted pulp was decreased. 4) Folding strength of the paper made of grafed pulp was decreased. 5) The paper made of grafted pulp showed remarkable resistance to fungus growth.
