지하철 초기 도입 후 한국형 표준전동차 생산단계까지 눈부신 발전을 하였으나 철도법을 알지 못하거나 관계자이 아닌 기술자가 전동차 디자인을 하여 아쉬운 점이 남는다. 앞으로 도입하는 첨단기술과 열정으로 이룬 전기동차(이하 전동차), 수십 대의 전동차를 동시에 여객 영업운전은 안전운행을 위한 열차운영내규에 맞추어야 하는 등 까다로운 점이 있고, 이것에 대한 면밀한 검토가 있어야 한다. 기존 전동차는 자동차처럼 메이커에 따라 비슷한 것과 종류와 특성이 조금씩 다르고, 그중 가장 보유량수가 많고, 높은 비중을 차지하고 있는 영국에서 기술 도입하여 대우에서 만든 GEC전동차의 전동차 순기능 대책강화방안을 논하고자 한다.
